Title: no spark
Post by: banned advertiser on March 25, 2007, 04:42:40 PM
Can anyone shed some light.
I have a customer who has rebuilt his engine and come start up, has no spark, I have asked him to check plugs, coils, switch off turbo timer, check immobiliser, fuel system has good pressure so pump must be working, check egi fuse. Dash lights come on so fuse there ok.

Anymore ideas??????

does he have fuel going into the engine?
Yu can have fuel going thru the rail (ie into the feed pipe and back outof the return pipe) but if the injectors arent opening, and coupled with no spark, sounds like he should be looking at his crank angle sensor and the wiring or maybe even ecu. The ecu wont send a signal to the injectors or to the ignitor if it doesnt see a reference from the CAS.
I had the same problem with my engine...no fuel or spark. Turned out to be a faulty sensor and also the wiring to the sensor was duff (thatll be a 15 year old wiring loom then)
First thing to check tho is the immobiliser depending on what circuit it cuts into.

Car alarm would be the 1st thing i\'d check. Lock the car and unlock it again using the alarm then try.

Thanks will get CAS checked.

Have turned off turbo timer and alarm was on and working before rebuild but checking it anyway. Have now swapped over coil packs and still no spark when holding plug against car when turning over.
