cerbera\'s are mighty fast and beat things with a lot more power but will suffer similar problems with traction as the FD, assuming you are both running road tyres.

Our Tripple FD has similar power to yours and it feels ferocious in a straight line but wasnt that quick on the 1/4.

I wouldnt put 2k on it unless you modd yours for the strip with slicks and drag suspension

If the RX7 doesnt win, you are a disgrace to the Rotary! Should be easy money.

:Giggle  easy for you to say Ross with your experience, a lot as you know depends as much on the driver as the car.
Normski play safe & leave the £2000 at pips for me to spend on mine netter than risking giving it away to an undeserving cause :D

the tvr will prob fall apart on the line. used to have one, not really put together that well

should be an easy 3 rotor victory

Put some drag radials on the Tripple the TVR is toast, The TVR be lucky if it breaks into the 12s probably 13s

take the bet, pay £500 and a few beers to either dragon or blitzboy (lots of drag experience, and ****ing good) and let them collect you the rest of the money.

then it should be like stealing candy from a baby

I\'d be a bit wary considering the number of FD\'s that leave the guts of the diff on the floor on the drag strip. A stock TVR is less likely to drop it\'s guts off the line as an FD with a stock diff(I presume) and a lot more torque than standard.

cerbera\'s can get high 11\'s low 12\'s in stock form with a good driver and some traction. I\'m not saying the RX7 shouldnt or couldnt win i just wouldnt want to put 2k in it.

The TVR is pretty quick, but TBH I think it would be down to driver ablilty on the day.

A reasonable driver should see 12.1 on street tyres in the cerbera. a good driver will see 11.9

If it had Nitrous maybe, Cerberas aint that good on the quarter, if it was the Tuscan then maybe 11s but Cerberas aint no Tuscan!!

check this link of actually drag times achieved

http://www.dragtimes.com/browse3.php?carmake=TVR&carmodel=all or this link with Cerberas up the pod the most they could do was mid 12s at around terminals of 112-117!!! I mean I could do 11.9 quarters all day long on low boost.
Your tripple will smoke him

Normski just make sure you are running a 1.5 way lsd with some sticky rubber, as you will munch the Standard diff in no time

Very interesting race this,

I hear a triple aint that fast off the mark so you might struggle off the line Norm, but if you can get through the gears quick enough will be close.

I think its for this reason Ross still runs a Twin rotor setup rather than the Triple although Triple sees more power output ?

I think Norm has changed his diff so that shouldn\'t be an issue, will be very interested to see the outcome of this :cheers

Well the TVR is standard. Not a super drag driver like say Dragon, but have done about 100 runs down the strip in my time, over the years. Anyway, I have managed a 12.8 with the old setup, and done few quality cock ups off the line as well. Who hasent! Going back to the point, it\'s as I thought with this TVR he is going to be lucky very lucky if he can break into the high 11 second bracket, half reasonable time for him is mid 12s, Now based on my old setup which was something around a little over half the torque and a third less power if I could manage 12.8, I may be wrong here, but I think, a half decent run for me should put me into the mid 11s box, and a bit of luck and good run would put me high 10s to low 11s runs. So! I don\'t think there is a TVR on the public highway gonna get much closer than seeing my nodding dog in the back window. :3gears-lh

I won\'t go MAD off the line. I will wait till I hit second gear, around 25 30MPH then he can kiss my cherry red ass good night!!!!!   :evillaugh

I have a rear set of 16\'s with the correct Micky Thompson Drag Radials on that I can sell you. Only been used for a few runs so newish. I havn\'t put them up for sale yet as I havn\'t got round to it. You interested..
Reason I am selling them is my next set will be Slicks.

oooh this sounds interesting - I love TVR\'s - whens it going to happen?

My opinion is the money is yours - if it was the 4.5 cerbera i\'d be a little more wary - 0-60 in 3 something secs and tops out at not far off 200mph!!

I have twice had tussels with hard driven Cerbs. The first was at Donnington and I chased down and overtook one in my first MK1 Golf (circa 200hp daily driver), and the owner found me afterwards and tried to buy my car! The second was Elvington in my Stylus where obviously I utterly and completely destroyed it withought trying (that owner was not so impressed!).

TVR are never as fast as the magazine figures. The demo cars are always built to exacting standards and the cars they sell do not get any where near the claimed power outputs. This is a fact that follows TVR through its history with many cars falling 60+ hp short of their claims.
