As above guys. Have a UK spec FD13 RX7, manual. Was thinking of decatting it with a straight through centre pipe... but... being a UK car it needs a CAT. I\'m sure that the standard CAT needs replacing anyway, so am looking into a Sports CAT.
I can\'t seem to find any RX7 FD specific Sports CATS in the UK, only centre pipes. Ones I have found are in the USA.
Can you guys recommend any specific Sports CAT? Give me information of where I can get one from quickly in the UK (numbers or websites). And how much I would be looking at.
I was thinking of decatting and then catting back up for MOT time, but not sure how easy this is to do on the RX7. Is the standard OE CAT/pipe and an aftermarket straight through centre pipe simply a bolt in/bolt out action?
And yes... I will be uprating to an Apexi PFC at the time of decatting.
Thanks all.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. :WaveBye
On one hand people do de-cat anyway and tend to go to a friendly MOT station who understands rotaries.
Others swap a cat back in for MOT time.
Others utilise the PFC to tweak settings at MOT time to aid emissions.
Myself, I bought a sports cat as I wanted to keep the car road legal and did not want any worries or hassle come MOT time. This thread has the details (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25291). I got the Knight Sports high flow cat through http://www.neweraparts.com. It comes from Japan but delivery was only 1 week :)
I\'m not sure about the straight swap as my exhuast system was not standard when I replaced it with the KnightSports/Racing Beat combination.
I have a single performance downpipe - manufacturer unknown as well as a Racing Beat CAT back exhaust system - single tipped like yours.
How much did you pay for the Knightsport centre pipe/high flow CAT? Much noticeable difference between that and the OE one in terms of power, response and sound? And where did you get it from?
Yeah i\'m split between a flow flow CAT and a straight through centre pipe at the moment.
chrisBoid, have a word with RoTechniks - they put a high-flow cat on my JDM \'92 to satisfy my inner tree hugger :D and that works rather well.

Got it from http://www.neweraparts.com, you will have to contact them on price :) I went from a silenced mid-pipe to the high flow cat, no noticeable difference in power, quieter outside the car, but a bit louder inside as the actual cat can is a lot smaller than the silenced can I used to have.

I don\'t need to, I already have a KnightSports high flow cat  Did you mean someone else?
oops, yes, I thought you were the OP... And it was the OP looking for advice, I believe...

Rotechniks fitted a Bonez high flow cat for me years ago, always passed the tougher emissions every time. Since then I found out that as a 1994 import car, it doesn\'t need one, still it means I am not killing quite so many trees :-)
