Didn\'t think it would be popular, i can\'t handle anymore breakdowns, if i want more power it needs to be drastic. My theory is:
my scoob - 180bhp per litre, owned for 9months off road for 6.5, needing two full engine builds!!
my rex - 250hp per litre owned since november off road since december!!
Corvette - 80bhp per litre, ever seen a broken down corvette?

WOW your overfueling just a bit on that vid. Is there something wrong with it or does it need a remap?

Thanks guys, I had a 97 RS before but the paintwork was something to be desired. This one is immaculate.

And don\'t worry i\'m doing my own electrics on the conversion, i know i won\'t win you lot over with it but i thought it best to warn you.

Need a remap? No needs a rebuild, blew four out of six tips but still got to work, thankyou ecu compensation.

Oh ok I have now seen the photos!
Very nice mate.
Also I\'m really interested in the conversion:Thumbs-up
Are you going to do it all yourself?
What is your budget?
I figured £10k all in to convert what are you finding?
Any handling changes you will have to make?

All the best with it.
Looking forward to the developments.

Now that is a good deal for you :Thumbs-up
What sort of timescale are you looking at?
Would you consider the "upgrade" (that will make me popular) for others?
All the best with it and keep us posted.

Are you MAD? It looks PERFECT mate!! Good luck with the engine conversion but please do not butcher the body work. A very sweet RX7.

I should be able to do the conversion in about 20 hours. The thing that takes the time is waiting for bits and finding 20 hours!!

I won\'t be doing it till christmas though cos just forking out for a rebuild on the wankel and insurance is due. Although managed to source parts from japan and usa so costing me only £1250 to fully no corners cut rebuild. Waiting for those parts too!!

I suppose i should give a spec on her:

- 1999 Type RB-S in Mika Blue standard body 42k km
- Standard 1999 engine and turbos
- Apex\'i Power FC and commander
- Blitz Nur spec R backbox
- Unknown make 3" unsilenced midpipe
- NPG Coilovers lowered a lot
- Buddy Club Alloys (forgot model)
- Apex\'i twin intakes

May add HKS front pipe and Bosch 040 fuel pump as i want 330bhp ish to see me through to the V8 conversion.

For those of you that are interested in the forbidden conversion:

Engine will be from a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 known as the LS6 5.7L producing 385bhp @ 6000rpm and 523Nm @ 4800rpm.

In the Corvette which weighs 1413kg (over 100 heavier than the rex) it\'ll push 0-60 in 4.3, 0-100 in 9.62 and 1/4 in 12.52 @ 114mph.

Add the obligatory decat, filter and steep cam setup and you have 440-450bhp and almost 600Nm, you also reduce the weight by 50kg surprisingly. All in all, an everyday 11 sec car that sounds better than Beethoven.

Here is a video of a rex with the exact engine setup i will have, turn up the volume and enjoy.

There were another couple of threads on here about the conversion, do a search on LS1 I\'m sure you may find useful info.

Good luck to you !

Trouble is i drive my car like it was born to be driven so if somebody wants to pay for a wankel rebuild every year sure i\'ll keep the rotary.

On the contrary.

Normal FD looks good. Blue and Black is a good combo.

Engine is also a clean fit.

Enjoy!
