Title: What power can i expect?
Post by: shaggy on March 20, 2007, 09:07:24 PM
I have a \'99 fd with full blitz decat exhaust, apexi intakes, and an apexi power fc.

What sort of power do you think i can expect with a good map after she is built back up?

Also is it worth getting a front pipe bearing in mind i am only keeping this engine till winter. All i want is to be able to dust my mates new M3!

I would sugest you buy an uprated Fuel pump and get it maped well maybe even up the boost 13-14psi :)

Do you reckon thats the best option? I\'m thinking of going to non-sequential with my twins so i\'ve heard a downpipe helps with spooling.

Does anybody know the full part number on the bosch 040 pump? We are bosch agents at work but i need the 10 digit number, 040 is just the commercial retail model number.

Also anybody recommend a mapper in bristol area?

Mr Lover lover, :InLove

Sorry couldn\'t resist :rollin :rollin :rollin

I think with a few mods and decent remap you could see over 330bhp, with a new M3 you would be able to keep up with it and he wouldn\'t be able to lose you but i dont think you could overtake him :2Confused

The M3\'s are quite quick and a single turbo\'d RX would dust it, but with your mods you\'d easily keep up but wouldn\'t leave him for dead like :Giggle

Down pipe/Decat is one of those Mods that realy needs mapping, I say that becouse on stock twins a good flowing exhaust can cause Boost Spikes and Creep, So you need to make sure you have fueling to cover it or fit some thing like a Profect B2 to keep it in check.

The part number i have here for the O44 is P/N 0580 254 044

BTW, If you use the 044 you need the Sock/Filter that goes on the end or you\'ll have problems with pick up when the tank gets to 1/4.

Yeah thanks guys, i\'ll just have to out brake him then lose him on the roundabouts. I drove round the outside of him in my impreza and into the distance, things you sacrifice for style and going sideways eh?

Don\'t wanna spend too much cos this engine is being ditched in the winter.

I\'ll get a price on that pump though, we do get Bosch stuff well cheap.

I thought greg was good for mapping and i have asked him, just haven\'t heard from him yet.

Urm you can\'t find a Filter? do you mean on the Stock Pump or the 044 hasn\'t got one?

If you don\'t have the Filter on the end of the Pump (in tank) you\'ll get a surge effect when the tank goes below 1/4, Do a search its quite common on 044\'s.

Also would prefer the 040 pump i think, not much point in spending the extra on the 044 that can\'t be utilised with the twins. Going to be replacing my entire fuel system later in the year with my new engine.

Just look at the weight difference for a start !!!

Mild mods should make it easily much quicker !!!

Thats what i\'m thinking, it can\'t possibly be not quicker!!

Plus i don\'t think my rex feels much slower than my scoob and that was only 360 odd hp.

Suppose those figures are really under test conditions and kind of \'perfect world\' figures.

So I expect how you drive, the weather, road conditions etc all playing a part eg on a hot day I would favour the M3, on a damp day I would favour the RX7.

Dust him mate !!!!
Just make sure you do it somewhere \'responsibly\' eg the track !

By the track you mean the ring road right?!?!? lol

Need to get it put back together first anyway, waiting for parts from the east.

not too worried as i\'m gonna be looking at a 400bhp+ engine in the winter with a 50kg+ weight loss at the same time.
