Title: Bridge-tastic Rebuild pics!
Post by: dubber91 on March 18, 2007, 08:48:02 PM
Well, we got a fair way with my rebuild this weekend, but as i invisaged would happen, getting the engine stripped down and built in a day just was not going to happen. Anyway, I thought i\'d share a few piccies with you oldschoolers.......
All of these pics were taken once everything was clean.....apart from the second to last pic ;)

and the rotors.....bear in mind all the apex/corner/spring seals were intact. Make your own assumptions! This motor was rebuilt 10K miles ago...... I wont say by whom.

Next up weve got the cleaned stuff ready to start the build...that never happened.....But gives you an idea of the scale and number of parts in a rotary!

oooooooh secrets!
rebuild was done by a company who dont advertise on here. And are based in the reading/berkshire area. racing beat dealers. SO I AM TOLD! the reason i dont want to speculate is that i am only 95% sure it is them. I cannot be sure and therefore i dont want to throw stones in this metaphorical glass house.....if you follow...

And the bridge....thats eras fine work!

:D

good work,  what ecu are you using?,   is it turbo charged?

nope...no hairdryers allowed ;)

I have an MBE systems ECU that i intend to run, but im not even close to getting that all set up. I need throttle bodies if anyone has some? probably around 50mm....

For now ill run it on my dellorto sidey. Nopefully it\'ll be close to what i require without too much re-jetting.

On standalones do people normally run off turbo II crank position sensor or do they bolt on one of the 32-1 wheels on the front pulley?

We are building a 13b with custom inlet manifold using throttle bodies. We got a set of Gixer 1000 throttle bodies which have stock injector fittings, i think they around 50mm.  They are also the right spacing and are linked already

interesting......still would love some pics!

ya reckon 55mm jenveys would work alright though? They would bolt straight onto the manifold i have ;)

QuoteO I AM TOLD! the reason i dont want to speculate is that i am only 95% sure it is them. I cannot be sure and therefore i dont want to throw stones in this metaphorical glass house.....if you follow...

;)

I decided against the turbo. Apart from certain packaging problems, i felt the thermodynamic issue was far to great for me to be arsed with.
The turbo required work, the intercooler cooling, the ECU wiring.
So i figured why the hell not go for a big carbed bridgey using the 4 port turbo II irons as these are easier to port.
This way everythings nice and simple, easy to cool, and less of a hassle to install.

Make sense?

not at all. I cant help but see this on the street. These NA motors, when built properly, can outlast a turbo motor with all the bells and whistles......

plus imagine the sleeper abilities ;)

i suppose i should have said \'daily driver\', the fuel economy and drivability wont be brill, although Era manages ok!   It should definately outlast a turbo motor though.

I was upto my arms in diesel today as per your piccy, cleaning my housings and rotors, i have forgotten what a b1tch it is to get 60k miles of carbon of the face of the rotors and i stink of diesel.

On a side note, i have not used diesel before, i normally use proper engine degreaser but the diesel worked well,  just got to clean the oily film off now, not sure what to use, may just give them a hot soapy bath, dry them properly and build it straight away to stop it going rusty.

Like the saying goes........."gasoline is used to wash parts, alcohol is to drink and methanol is used for racing......"   I just use good ol Sainsbury\'s unleaded to clean all parts, works a treat and you get a free \'high\'....:D
