i got my car all tuned up with an apexi/hks and a new hks exhaust by pip last week and it was fine on the way home..
today i was driving it and if i go anywhere between 5-6000 rpm it just doesnt pull properly and starts popping out of the exhaust, feels like its not fueling properly or something, anyone got any ideas?
dont really want to drive all the way back to cheshire again if i can help it.
Could be a vac hose come loose bud.., have you fitted a decat? the exhaust will pop and bang, tiz normal, but they`ll do it a hell of a lot more with a decat lol

yeah it pops, but it wasnt doing this before, its like it must be a hose before as its not pulling properly, the vacuum hoes going in to the manifold ? at the top of the bay, i had a quick look and i couldnt see anything dodgy, ill have another look tomorrow i think :/
may be the map, probly running a bit rich, which isnt bad, just uses a bit more fuel lol.. so 7 to the gallon now :P.. better to much than not enough.. check the hoses around the plenum too.. may be a crack somewhere, always a good thing to replace all the vac hoses, im guna do all mine because they go solid and split for a past time :(
might be the plugs need changing as they are used a lot more at higher revs and if they aren\'t performing the fuel will not get burnt properly which will result in a lot if unburnt fuel, hence the popping?
probably a rich spot in your map that he may have not smoothed properly or any of the above, spark plugs is a good place to start as i would change each time i mapped as it seems to make a difference dependant on condition. check knock readings on your apexi etc too
it cant be the map though as on the way back it was working fine and i was boosting def past 5, sure past 6 at some points. (so its got to be something simple like hose or maybe the plugs have suddenly got dirty like you suggest:/)
i got all the vac hoses changed last year, but ill have a look for some cracks in them, the plugs were changed november 2005 and ive done around 2-3000 miles on them, but if you guys think its worth changing i think i will.
do i just get 4xBUR9EQP or shall i get the 2xBUR9EQP and 2xBUR7EQP
thanks for your help guys.
2005! even if its been sitting the plugs wont be in thier best condition. i would change asap and you should feel a difference anyway, it may not solve your problem but it should make it smoother and start better. i\'ve changed mine twice in about 6 months. (two and half times but thats another can of beans).
perhaps do this first then look elsewhere, as for which plugs i would say 2 x 7\'s and 2 x 9\'s if your car is standard but i think im right in saying most of us use 9\'s all round as its a colder plug so better for higher performance applications as well as stock.
the 7\'s in the leading will basically clean themselves as they are "hotter" plugs so makes it harder to flood, but mine is on nines and i have never flooded it.
good luck fella and keep us updated.
ps there is a guide to changing plugs in the technical stickies if you need it.
:wave
cheers mate, just ordered 2x7s and 2x9s= £43 from spark plugs co uk, couldnt find any in halfords, so will need to do this next weekend :/
hopefully it will be something simple like the plugs :))

i had this problem now running 2 x 10s and 2 x 11s sorted!!
is the prob all the way from 5k rpm upwards or just between 5k and 6k?

try to take things a step at a time and do the easy things first as sometimes reading up too much will make you look in every place it may be but overlooking the obvious. as i say either way you will feel an improvement for sure.

all the way, just changed them to 7s+9s hope i havnt made it worse as that guy said his got fixed by running colder, with 10s and 11s, was just going on what the other guy suggested. (and what mazda suggest)
they had 9s all round (the ones i took out)
7s go in spark plug sockets 1+2 right ?
My money going on the hoses and plugs mate! I recon plugs. could be breaking down under the new preasure at high revs
was the plugs :)
running sweet as a nut now, am i going to have any problems runnings 7s in the leading with mods = hks airfilters/exhaust+decat+ apexi ecu..
is it worth me getting 2X9s and swapping them out?

not unless your going to be dragging or racing etc, normal/sprirted road use should be fine fella.
told you to start with the easy stuff :cool
glad its sorted
hopefully its going to be nice tomorrow so i can test it out some more ;)
