Title: Boost probs???
Post by: Jim_rx7 on March 17, 2007, 05:56:01 PM
Read the test when you\'re supposed to be in 3rd gear, then boot it etc.

Boost goes to just past 0.6bar, then drops to 0.5bar, then stays at 0.5. Is it not supposed to go back up again??

Anyone any ideas as to what could be the prob?
thanks

Do you get a kick up the bum at about 4500 rpm???

This is when the secon turbo comes on line & you should notice a big surge of power, if you don\'t then the second turbo isn\'t kicking in & that could be down to a load of things!!!

lmao... so what\'s the possibility of me diagnosing it?!

Mmmm... think I\'ll have to get the car to a rx7 specialist at some point.

Is there certain pipes that are used with the turbo side of things that I can look at replacing to see if this resolves the issue?

Yep...... all of them!!!
The rats nest lives under the UIM & the pipes cook there, they get brittle & crack, so you mightjust have a broken pipe, but it could also be a solonoid gone!!!

Actually, I changed my mind. It seems ok as far as I can tell now?!?

Will get my garage at some point to replace the vac pipes etc, etc. Are they easy to get to without any major hassle?

PS : what is the UIM ?

Upper Inlet Manifold, also known as plenum.

Big silverish probably corroded intake, elbow connects to it !
