Title: who runs a Garrett T04E
Post by: bobert on March 16, 2007, 08:45:19 PM
I am thinking of buying a Garrett T04E single turbo.
What are they like?
I plan on doing a lot of track days this year, would this turbo be suitable?

Funny as I was thinking the same to go single... But would only look for 300 at the fly TBH, would one be suitable and still get a decent spool up time?

Good low spool up on the T04E, but looking at your signature you are running a T04R.  I would stick with that - its a very good all round turbo.

My TD07 car seems to be making similar power to Charlie\'s (Nurspec\'s old car) old T04R car, now Blitzboys Motor, before he put his engine and T04Z in the car.

Think the T04R has a bit more at the top end.  My TD07 looks like it will run out of puff at 1.1 bar.  Trying to get close to 400 @ the wheels from my TD07 but will have to wait and see!

Post up the figures!  Got to have an ignition amp fitted to mine and then I will find out my peak power! Then on to the Body Mods! :wiggle

My to4r has gone back to turbo technics under warranty and they are struggling to get parts for it, so it doesn’t look like I will be getting it back in a hurry.

No idea what your setup is mate but I run a T04e (daily car) get 325atw and 390atfw @ 0.9bar spools up quick smart and runs hard all day long with no issues... Obviously it\'s no T04R but does a very good job for what it is, and seriously very very quick spool up probably very good fun on a track.

Although I would prefer a T04R ;)

The porting on your engine my man, TO4E will choke it IMO it will spool up very quickly but your mid range and top end will suffer plus you will have to remap again as you will be overfuelling as you changing the volume of air on your engine is seeing and your existing map can not compensate for this as it was setup for the "R"
