Title: How to fit a HKS SSQV?
Post by: Jim_rx7 on March 14, 2007, 09:03:14 PM
Hi,

I have a HKS SSQV sitting here that I got with the car.

Totally clueless as to where this gets plumbed into on the rx7. I\'m used to good old fashioned piston type engines. lol.

Is there a Bov fitting guide anywhere that anyone knows of?

Much appreciated!

Jim

ok ill assume you know something then

i have the same BOV

stand in front of your car with the bonnet open and then look to the left of the engine.

You will see that there is a flat big plastic pipe coming going down next to the plenum - look down there - out from the lower intake manifold theres a stock BOV - remove that and plumb in the new HKS bov - "Y" a vacuum pipe and then connect that.

go for a drive and admire the new whoosing noise your car makes.

Well, there is two stock "bovs" around that area.

And wouldn\'t it be better to seal off the one you are replacing, and then plumb the HKS SSQV all the way up on the intake elbow? So it sits closer to the intake, and after the IC.

ah, so do you block off the top hose going into the left hand incduction kit (looking at the pic) ?

Where does the vac line get plumbed into?

Also, where can you get a blanking thing for where the hose would normally connect to on the induction kit??

Post by: fletch_ on March 16, 2007, 12:25:28 PM
the top hose that normally goes to the induction kit goes onto the back of the bov and the hole where it would normally goes just gets blocked up with anything, dont know what with mine just has a rubber cap glued onto it:Giggle
let me have a quick look and ill let you know about the vacume hose

right, the vacume hose (blue) goes from the bov, under the intake pipe, and up to the plenum, indicated by the pink arrow,
the \'T\' piece is then run off to my boost guage.

Nah, I\'ll be alright.. fitted bovs before, just notto a rex.

So do you not remove the stock bovs on the rex, or do they just stay in place??

you leave the one closest to the turbo`s on and remove the one at the front, just behind the drivers side headlight :)

Where can you buy inserts? And what color gives the "nice" sound? :)

Depends what you call nice. Mines gives a lower sound, a bit like a blitz bov. I want the unique SSQV sound tho. (which is the standard insert as far as I know).

Would it be ok to just replace the stock BOV with a pipe, and then install the HKS SSQV at the elbow using a Greddy elbow with a flange?
Title: How to fit a HKS SSQV?
Post by: Jim_rx7 on March 19, 2007, 04:29:04 PM
I would assume so mate? Not 100% sure tbh.

Possibly leaving the original one in place and put one in using a greddy elbow.
