have you done research on the kit?

Post by: gmogle on March 10, 2007, 10:39:57 PM
The kit isnt cheap to buy and the labour involved getting it fitted and sprayed will be quite substantial.

Might be a bit low for our speed bump nation.

But it looks good and certainly unique.

you must have a lot of money to burn then
would look forward to seeing that
there are many other nice wide kits for the rex that would cost a lot less

Is the fortune one the one styled on a suit of armour?  With the \'rivets\' along the panels?

Yep the one styled on a samurai suit of armour or to represent one. Good luck with the Fortune Kit project. Just a word of advice, if you crash it :WaveBye  20k bye bye!

No one is suggesting that, they just want you to know in case you have not researched as to how dear this kit is, Veilside and RE make top quality kits and it reflects in the price, I believe and will know soon that the RE GT kits can cost close to that and maybe more for the new kit GT500
Good luck with the project and keep them piccys coming.....

On nemesis site its 6495 +vat plus a £500 shipping fee. So you are looking at about 8k for the kit plus the other costs involved.

Lets be honest the only reason you saw the kit was in the Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift.
I agree it looks nice and definitely very individual but I can see peoples points that there are some nice widebody kits for the RX7 that are as nice but not as expensive.

Dont think anyone was being off with you its just that there are a lot of dreamers who come on here and start posting that they are gonna do this and this and this and disappear without a trace and dont even buy an RX7 !

Not sure I favour you getting insurance next year with a ban and trying to insure an RX7 costs in excess of 20k !!

Here\'s a better looking kit and it doesn\'t make n RX7 look like an over weight 300zx!!:D  You\'ve got to be pushing plenty of horses under the bonnet to warrant having the fortune kit!! No point having a car looking like that with no power increase! A standard FD  could kick your a$re!!!:evillaugh
And mogles made a good point about your insurance costs! No ones talking to you like a child, and there\'s no point taking offense to a couple of comments!! You could of helped yourself a little with a lengthier first post, explaining a little about yourself and your interest in rex\'s and your future plans. Remember there\'s alot of knowledgable people on this site,no point getting off to a bad start!!:)

so your planning on spending 15k just to get the kit on and sprayed, but what about the car? thats going to cost around 7-8 for a good example
in addition the weight the wheels and the kit will have will slow your car down considerably, you will need 12 j plus rims for that.
you planning on this just being a show car or a car that can burn too ? cos thats more money to the pockets
would be amazing to see one but theres a reason why nobody has as far as i can see ...

I think that at some point or other each of us has dreamed about having the money to be able to do something as wild as this, so if you have the money, time and effort then good for you. I hope you can pull it off, as i for one would love to see one of these cars at a major UK show :D

Think the blue and white combo looks great, but then the all black looks quite mean too.

Have you got yourself a car to begin with?

Black and Grey.  Looks excellent.  Try it with very dark blue and very dark blue with a hint of violet/UV... that\'d look the mutts.

Red n black looks smart! :Thumbsup! As far as i know no one in the uk has done one yet,but then again i might be wrong. Were a few Fortune build threads on the american sites last year. Couple of threads on this site linked straight to them.

it looks nice but it completely disguises the shape of an rx7 the only think that shows it isnt a s13 under it is the roof, as that stays uncovered.  so for that reason i think it takes alot away from the already beautiful rex, i am not one of the standard is the best people, but a nice bumpers sideskirts and rear spats is way better in my view

Why not get one from Miguel(Newera), With the kit and everything on. As said earlier he probably has an extra one if he is just keeping one..  And it would be far cheaper to get it with everything already on, And you would have a Fatf car..  Not that I would like my car more if I had one.. But would generate more money if you decide to sell it later..

Twin twin or a modded single? Totally depends on spec, condition, blown, high mileage or re-built. Anything from £1000 to £10000.

depends on what you are looking for mild to wild.
Anywhere from £2k up to £6-8k

Interestingly, a friend who owns a bodyshop is about to fit one of these.

He also said, that apparently if you use the car to advertise your business after fitting the fortune kit, that Universal Studios/Veilside will try to sue you for something or other? Surely that can\'t be true?

Cant see that would ever stand up, if they dont want any other name on the car, they should either not sell the kit or supply it on condition that the graphics come with the kit and must be used.
