Bit of a flyer as I only saw it on Pistonheads/eBay last night and all being well I\'ll pick it up Sunday, subject to viewing/test drive!
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/142786.htm
Anyone know this car? A rebuild inc. turbo from RE:Worx sealed the deal for me, as well as the car having all the toys I was after. Sounds like it\'s been well looked after and at £7k I think it\'s a bargain, all things being equal.
This will be my first RWD car, so I\'m desperately hoping it won\'t be raining on Sunday for the 3 hour drive back! :3Confused
Well done that man, couldn\'t keep away for long eh :Thumbs-up
Er....buying a rex from a skoda garage that states NO WARRANTY....:Nono! in my opinion but hey, if there\'s decent history why not.
Just give it a good kicking on the test drive
I\'m sure he used to be a memeber on here I recodnise the car, if its the one I\'m thinking of it was well maintained.

Funny, that was the first thing I picked up on as well.
That, and the fact that there are no decent photos of the bodywork. Lockwood77 - I\'d be very careful with this car. Not saying something\'s wrong with as I don\'t know the car but given that the guy\'s in the trade I\'m a bit surprised to see such a sloppy ad.
The guy works there, it\'s his own car and a private sale hence no warranty from the Skoda garage!
It does have the RE:Worx warranty though. :) Will give \'em a call just to check on the car.
Original ad here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOW-MLG-48K-CASTROL-REPLICA-SINGLE-TURBO-RX-7-TYPE-R_W0QQitemZ280090718319QQihZ018QQcategoryZ18211QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Makes more sense with that.
Indeed, that ad makes more sense. Although I\'m wondering why there is a Kent Cams sticker as part of the shopping list on the car? :3Confused

Could be confused with Nathan\'s old car, bought by Dasilva and sold again I think? I really wanted that one too but couldn\'t get there in time!
eBay ad has twice as many pics, much better ones of the overall car. Thanks for the concern guys, I appreciate your experience, I will certainly do my best to give it a good going over.

Haha, I thought that too! I can only assume there was a race car that looked a bit like this in Japan at some point and they have tried to recreate the graphics of the sponsors - cams would indeed be a strange choice for a Rex!
nice one Ian! Your a glutton for them castrol stickers tho arent you!!!
Hows it going mate. Are you going to join us down at Silverstone on Saturday.:wave
:D
It\'s a big toy. It might as well look like one! ;)

Not sure if that\'s to me... sadly I can\'t as I\'m playing a gig on Saturday and need to be around for that. Otherwise I\'d be getting the car tomorrow! :)
Sorry mate wrong thread.:3Confused
so will you be bringing her to the bubble meet on sunday then ???? id like to have a poke round her :0)
Would have look a lot better if the engine bay (inner body shell) had been sprayed white as well. I personally think that if the engine bay is the original colour it kind of spoils the whole new paint job and corners have been cut. Maybe it\'s just me!
It\'s not only you if that makes a difference.

i totally agree....i sprayed my engine bay black cos it looked shockingly bad in red!
Just to point out, a garage has to offer a warranty by law..... see your statutory rights :yes
Doubt I\'ll get back from Worthing until early evening I\'m afraid, so no Bubble for me this month.
Agree to an extent on the engine bay (and the rear interior) being red, but ultimately I ain\'t that bothered! ;)

\'Tis not being sold by the garage, the guy just works there. Good point though and I bet there are a few dodgy traders who try to get out of that one!
All you can do at the end of the day is go and look at it, use your best judgment take all the precautions you can and hope for the best.
Read that Add: what does it say! SUPER CAR hehehahahah :Thumbsup! my case rests .......:bandit
I went to view this car about 3yrs ago and its quite decent and looked a decent set up, lad who has it is ok too had a good chat with him and he has spared not expense on the car, whenever anything needed doing he had it done.
Hope its still as good, i did not buy due to the graphics tbh, bit too loud for me :Giggle
There was a Car that looked very much like that around the Manchester Area some time back, It went to the Mascrat Meet a few times but the last time i saw the guy who owned it he said he had Blown it up and it was at Pips??
If so it would be good as it will have a Pip built engine (posably) may be worth Ringing WGT and seeing if they have any Record?

And it was\'nt Purple :yes
Quote from: GrizzlyAnd it was\'nt Purple :yes
Well there is that too :o
Just been looking at a red FD to buy and of course one of the first things needing to be done is re-spray in Purple me thinks !!!!
Also this car is not the same as the one that visits mascrat meet, thats a different car with similar graphics :D
ive seen a very very similar car at the meet aswell - was a good few yrs back if i can remember correctly
:( :Hammer
Guys, I bottled it. I woke up on Saturday thinking of all the negative points of buying/owning this car and spent the day mulling it over. Then I did what I absolutely hate - I pulled out of going to see Tom (the seller) the morning I was due to drive down (it is nearly three and a half hours from here!) :2Rolleyes
The bottom line was not whether I could afford it or even whether I can handle it, but actually how much I\'d use it. At 10mpg (at best I imagine with that spec), I wouldn\'t do any long journies. Moreover, it\'s not like my everyday car is a Mondeo or something (no offence), as I drive a DC5 Integra Type-R with some decent mods. I don\'t even drive that too much any more as I recently changed job and now commute on public transport, when I used to drive and go to a fair amount of meetings around the country.
So, I came to realise I wouldn\'t use the Rex much at all and it would be a very pretty but very expensive driveway ornament most of the time. I\'m gutted in a way, but relieved as well cos I won\'t be beating myself up about the money I\'ve "wasted".
Tom offered to drop the price to £6500 - for a single turbo with fresh rebuild from RE:Worx! Gotta be a bargain for someone.
I still really want one, but I\'m gonna have to have money to burn first I think. Then I can become a car collector... ;)
Now Now mate,
You didn\'t bottle it but thought it through and made the correct decision after a good think about the pro\'s and con\'s of this here car.
Better than buying it and then pulling your hair out cause you made the wrong choice :D
Put it this way if you had say £6K max to buy a car is a rx7 a good choice ??? .................... no as the upkeep and fuel costs will clean you out and at that price it might not have had a rebuild which again will cost you a fair bit. Sometimes the head is right the heart is wrong.
Your money, your call
Gurj :Thumbs-up
Cheers Gurj, that makes me feel a bit better! :)
Just cancelling the AON policy I\'d taken out, that was a bargain as well - £445 for 3000 miles with 5 trackdays. Half what I pay for my DC5 without trackdays! (Of course that\'s 10,000 miles and doesn\'t require me to have another car...)
I will be back - just gotta make enough money that I don\'t need to justify what I spend it on! Might try and get something RWD but less potent in the meantime to learn the ropes.
Hi guys
Just found this thread and I bought this car, the castrol graphics are now off and the Kent cams will be off soon.
The car has been well maintained as mentioned before and Tom the seller was a really nice chap too.
All I have to do now is sell the skyline and start personalising the car to my tastes.
I will post some pics of her soon.
Cheers
Nick
i\'ve seem you around Worthing in it mate, i own the black 92 efini type r!! Have to speak next time we see eachother!!
i am in Brighton...us south coasters should catch up at some point really....
Yea will be good to catch up with a few of the local rx\'s might need to pick your brains about a few things as well.
This car is seriously loud as well think it might get on my nerves eventually, it\'s even louder than my old R32 which had a Hiper Muffler HKS exhaust and that was SERIOUSLY loud.
Cheers
Nick
mine was 99db when i got it, way too loud for me and also will fail noise tests at the \'ring and some tracks
changed the mid-box to a FEED Sonic one from RE:Worx and its down to 92 - much better
Andy
