Title: Uprated cooling for Track days
Post by: Tim_B on March 08, 2007, 03:45:20 PM
I\'m looking to uprate my cooling on my FD to make sure the engine can cope with the odd trackday that I plan to do.

OK, bit of a newbie question :o , but whats the best thing to do to keep things cool?

Is an uprated radiator the best way to go? or intercoolers or something else.. please excuse my lack of technical knowledge!  Preferably looking to not spend too much, but more interested in value for money than outright cost.

The engine is currently stock and recently rebuilt.  Not planning to mess with the engine either... well at least for now

Best thing you could do is to look at aftermarket Ali rads PWR make a very good one that works very well, rather than looking at uprating the intercooler you could go hard pipes and water injection, this might be a very cost effective way of a] lowering intake temps when on boost and b] improving you engine cooling and minimising your outlay:King

The coolant additive water wetter should work well too.

If it starts to get serious you could go V mount

Water wetter (Purple Ice) here

Cheers for the help guys.  I\'m guessing the water wetter on its own won\'t be enough to keep things cool, so ali rad is the way to go - this enough? or should I look at hard pipes, water injection too?

Uprating the rad is always a good move in its own right. The choice then comes down to budget, uprated I/C vs. W/I.
