Title: auto starting problem
Post by: nextleveluk on March 07, 2007, 10:38:14 PM
weired one this...
just decided to not start this morning, key turns but nothing happen. Pretty sure its not the alram, thought it could have been starter motor as didnt hear the clicking. Called a previous owner who said it used to do this once a blue moon and its apparently the \'inhibuter\' on the auto box and that i should play with the gears back and forth, and the brake pedal and it should free up.
but now i notice that when i hear the break, i hear a little click from under the auto gear stick???!!!???!!!  p.s still not starting!!!???
any ideas?

Hi Mate,
I\'ve had this, and although I\'m not sure, I think it\'s because there is a \'N\' or \'P\' microswitch, which enables the starting circuit only when the selector is at these positions.

What I have done is push the selector forwards when starting, or at least move it about from it\'s normal position, and hold it there when turning the key.

Let me know how you get on.

p.s. I reckon there should be a seperate section for Auto\'s!

Absolutely FRAMEY!:2Rolleyes

most of it would be about the bugger deciding not to start and the eventual reason  :D

I had something similar to you nextleveluk...I disconnected battery power for a couple of minutes....appeared to "reset" the bugger and all was good...worth a pop?

Cheers:Viking
