Title: Changes to the Club Classifieds section (Private Sales)
Post by: Glenn Butcher on March 07, 2007, 02:21:01 PM
To all,

As per mazdarotaryclub.com\'s AGM held in January 2007, we are going to implement changes by tomorrow (Thursday 8th March 2007).

NEW THREAD MODERATION:
All New \'For Sale\' Threads will be Moderated ensuring they comply with the Club Terms and Conditions and new Template format.

NEW MODERATION QUEUE:
These new ads will be held in a NEW Temporary \'Club Classifieds Ad Submission area\' for a period of 1 week, before then being moved out into the Public (existing) Club Classifieds Area.

Therefore anyone wishing to Advertise their Vehicle, or Vehicle Parts will only be able to Post New Threads into this new Club Classifieds Ad Submission area, \'MRC Guests\' will only be able to view and reply to their own new Threads for 1 week – until it will be moved out into the Public area. However Full Club Members will be able to view ALL ads placed into this new area once they are Moderated/Approved.

Any new Ad Submissions by MRC Full Club Members will be available for viewing once Moderated within that 1 week period.

No New Threads will be allowed to be posted into the existing Club Classifieds section (all New Threads will go through the new Ad Submission process), Reply\'s will be allowed in the existing section.

NEW AD TEMPLATE:
We will also be implementing a New Template that all New Threads will have to comply to, before being Moderated/Approved. Instructions will be provided within the new section.

Thanks and REgards,
The mazdarotaryclub.com Team

I think it means from now on Dave will have more chance on bidding on sale items as less people wud be able to snatch a bargain

What this means is that for the first week of a for sale thread only members and the person who posted the item can see it after a period of one week it will become visible to all. What this means in real terms is that full members will have a week to buy items before guests. If your putting a item up for sale it will be a similar procedure as before just a case of we are giving you a template to work from so all the posts are structured the same and a moderator will approve the post and enter it into the correct section.

i know im either going to start getting flamed or cause another argument but what are the real reasons for this?

my initial plan was to join the minute my car worked properly (that minute isnt quite here) as i may have ended up selling it and had no use of a forum i barely knew anyone on, or i had bad experiences or opinions on goings on.

but i am ready to join up now and waiting for payday at my new job & hopefully my car is finally to be completely working in coming weeks/days but this type of thing puts me off to the absolute core.

i believe that i should pay my dues to a website i use quite alot so i am happy to do so for that reason at least so there is no argument there for me.

but why are all these rules and changes made to alienate or segregate anyone who is new to this club? this is one of the most costly car clubs i know of to join (£30 for new members and £25 for renewals) but why create more and more to in my opinion force poeple to join sooner rather then later or put them off completely?

some changes i can see a point in but some i cannot.

i can see why a club needs to charge membership and i certainly believe in paying my dues but the reasons i want to use this club seem to be fast dissapearing and anything politicaly natured just puts me off completely.

this is just my opinion and i know i am going to be getting a flaming but i honestly feel this way.

like a 100% lesser or seperate member as i am not full.

We are acting on what the membership requested and voted in at the last two years AGM\'s. The reason it has taken until now to enact this is the technical problems with the forum software which have now been worked around.

Hi m4drx!!!!

If you have been around as long as some of us have, you will see why we are doing this.

Everything we aim to do is make the club bigger and better, we are not aiming to alienate non paying members, but to give our Paying Members something a little more (which we feel is totally fair enough).

Hopefully this is something you will understand (there are many many posts out there about this very subject).

Be great to have you on board, but you certainly have the choice not to join up.

I\'m not going to get into the nitty gritty of Club Costs etc., many many people get a lot out of MRC without joining, and our aim is to give that little bit more to people who do pay to join.

Cheers,
Glenn

Well done MRC on this one.............................................:Thumbs-up

The only point I would make is that if we are trying to encourage new members perhaps leave CAR sales open to all from the off........?????????

Most members have an Rx and are looking to upgrade parts on them, just a thought.............:)

just as we discussed at the agm, good work guys and thanks to the mods for taking on the extra work.
i do agree with n4bes with the cars though as most members already have a rotor, may be something to consider as i don\'t think we discussed that at the agm.

Don\'t forget guys that guests will still be able to buy cars and parts - it\'s just that members will get the opportunity first. If any item or car isn\'t sold in the first seven days then everyone gets the chance to make an offer.

This is actually supposed to be the policy we are currently working to but it has been impossible to control. There have been quite a few arguments as a result which isn\'t good for buyers or sellers.

The solution Glenn has come up with seems perfect to me as it will eliminate any debate. Good job Glenn! :Thumbs-up

I would also like to point out that on another car forum I\'m a member of you cannot sell anything unless you are a member and it costs more than the MRC to join.

Good point........................

In reflection the amount of cars sold in one week as a percentage is very low.

thank you for taking the time to explain glenn i do appreciate your response and i see the thinking and benifits behind this which is fine and i will be a member soon and i hope to help more poeple as they have helped me.

I have just felt very pressurised and things have been said so abrubtly in the past that has been enough in itslef to put me off period. i appreciate when poeple can give me the time of day!

I would agree that maybe car sales could be left out of this one to encourage more rx buyer and i am sure if i were to have bought my rx from here i would join more than likely because i would be grateful to the site but if i couldnt post it could be frustrating or offputing i would say but again a week isnt too long i suppose.

thanks again.

Morning all!  Right - we are all go.

Hopefully things will start to become clearer for everybody after a few days.

To note: the existing Submitted Ads will stay there, but you will no longer be able to Post New ads into that area.  ALL NEW ads have to go through the NEW Ad Submission Area.

.ps m4drx - no probs., be great to have you on board in the future.

Hi Glen and Moderators

GLen, it was good to chat to you the other day..

I think it all make sense, paying members should have more benefits…

One point I would like to make or rather ask you a question:

Is it absolutely necessary to fill in your e-mail address and your telephone nr?
Will an add get approved with out the above? I have put an add already….

Regards,
Michaelb

Seems resonable to me, I have a Nissan Micra as a daily beater while the Rx is off the road. They also have a very good/friendly forum, and they state from the off that only fully paid up members can advertise goods for sale, but non members can purchase these goods if they wish.

So being a non fully paid up member on here you still have the advantage of selling your goods, it\'s just that full members get first dib\'s. Its better than not being able to sell your goods full stop. Just my 2pence worth:) .....cheers Leigh.

Are you getting any error messages? is it stopping at PayPal etc.?

Don\'t forget the Database for the Shopping Cart is a seperate one from the Forum, you will need to register on the Shopping Cart database to purchase items.

Let us know.

Well done :Thumbs-upto add my 2p - I joined a few days after finding the forum and deciding I was definitely going to buy an rx7, mainly due to my good experience with my old owners club.

After paying my membership I was initially quite disappointed with the benefits for members and thought the £30 was a waste of money.  A few days later I got my membership pack and I felt a little better but still thought it was quite a lot of ££ for the percieved benefit.

This is exactly the sort of thing I expect as a member, the rules allow non-members to still use everything whilst giving members slightly preferential treatment.  Well done guys  :cheers

I\'m still surprised that group-buys are open to non-members, on SXOC I found that this was one of the big pulls for new members, it\'s amazing how quick people are to join when you tell them "sorry you can\'t save £45 on these headlights etc etc unless you join, btw membership only costs £30 so you may as well join and take part in the group-buy and you get membership to boot"

just my 2p
