Title: A Few Questions
Post by: SavageUK on March 05, 2007, 09:27:25 PM
Been driving my FD for a few weeks now, and although i understand some of her characteristics, there a few things which ive noticed which ive never noticed in any other car ive driven so could use a few pointers :

First up is the idle, When i first start the car itll idle at around 1900 - 2000 rpm, after 5-10 mins of driving it sits nicely at around 900. Is this normal?

Second up, which i noticed completely by accident, i can put the car in first or second ( not tried third + ) lift completely off the gas + the clutch and the car wont stall? it just trundles along at 1000-1100 rpm. Were talking from standing or V slow here.

Last but not least, can anyone translate the japanese warning on the driver side sunblocker ( cant think of its proper name right now ) with regards to the Heat symbol? its popped on for a split second when under hard acceleration.

Thatll be it for now  :Thumbsup! i did have others but managed to find answers for those.

Cheers,

1. normal.....engine is set for cold start to warm up the oil etc when the ecu is happy it drops it down to the correct tic over.
2. never tried that so don\'t know. I would advise you STOP doing it anyway.
3. That is your Knock sensor/engine overheating. Do you have an Apexi + Commander ecu or stock ecu from Japan.

Oh and welcome.:cool

Yeah i have an apexi powerfc + commander, with regards to 2 it happened completely by accident ( rain + trainers + dodgy mats = slip ) and i figured it wasnt doing the car any good :)

just one more incident involving the liquid pain

The heat light flashing is telling you that you have to higher knock reading you can get your power fc to show you peak value\'s if its just flashed on quicly once your ok but is it keeps happening get it checked out, the knock sensors are notoriusly ****e on 7\'s though.

whilst driving normally though, be it motorway at 70 *cough* or general 30mph im having no trouble what so ever with the clutch.

Its running quite smooth :), cept for when i remember that my car doesnt really DO gear changes into 1st whilst moving. Although i understand it is a common place thing.

Ive checked max knock and the highest it has reached is 100, although it NEVER gets this high whilst driving just under hard acceleraction really.

I might be wrong here, but is that not a bad thing?
