Title: reworx/wgt
Post by: anthony on March 05, 2007, 12:34:28 PM
Are these guys much of a muchness, i always hear good things about pip at wgt, but then reworx seems to get just as good a praise..
i need my car mapped, so is it for example worth doing another 100 miles each way to see pip ?

Reworx
Distance: 77.3 miles
Time:1 hr 42 min

WGT:
Distance: 174.6 miles
Time: 3 hr 10 min

thanks guys, i dont mind doing the 6hr 20 drive, but if wgt reworx are just as good it seems silly to spend the whole day driving :)

both are as good as each other, highly recommended. If i were you i would choose reworx everytime, simply down to the travelling time:Thumbs-up

Having used WGT in the early years and RE:Worx more recently I\'d choose WGT of the two.

From London (I\'m SE London so wherever you are can\'t be worse!) I\'d also suggest chacking our Carl Hayward.

i go to wgt, i am in st.albans, but for something simple like a remap it prob aint worth the trip.  i dunno, as pip built my engine i would have to go back to him now.  saying that if you leave early it aint that long a trip up to WGT

another vote for carl -always found him very helpful and on top of that probably the closest of all of them to you. Why travel (at 15mpg!!) when you don\'t have to?

I use Reworx, Max is a guru when it comes to mapping FDs and it nice to get a dyno chart before and after mods, but then again I have been mapping my own car over the last few months, going to get it Dynoed to see the result of my latest efforts

Daft question here but I was planning on booking my in at WGT at some point summe rtime, would i be better to phone earlier and get booked in, whats the waiting time like on get your car looked at? Sorry I just thought I would randomly hijack this thread and ask :) just after it getting it checked over at the moment but by summer I might have one or two things I want done. hehe

Pip has been playing with rotaries for a very long time and has an excelent rep [much deserved] I would suggest he maps on the side of caution [a good thing]
The guys at Reworx [Max or Geff] are the guys that consistantly produce the power cars [have a look at the dyno list] and from personel experience I would not hesitate recommending them, you are involved with the whole process and kept informed with what is going on.
But as stated above you pay your money and you takes your pick. I would however say from a personel perspective mapping is a far safer experience on the dyno than on the road.

I drive a 1250 mile round trip to Pip from Germany, if i need anything done. John is a lot closer now, but he did the same when he was in Germany.

Yup!  I\'ll be leaving Swansea about 5 am :2Confused.  Last time I checked, Gatesey was also coming up about that time.

Not sure about the post code sorry.  IIRC, its off junction 18 on the M6, down the A54 and take a left at the roundabout with a pub on (cant remember the name sorry).  Then drive a few hundred yards down to the Police building (its not a station - something else) and you\'ll find it at the end of that road.

Hope this helps.  I’ll see you there!

Might also be worth getting in contact with JayDee. He\'s been known to map the odd car with good results. He\'s also London area based.

HTH

I\'m sure ReWorx and Pip both have dynos.

I do agree it is potentially safer to map on a dyno, but road mapping gives you a "real world" map rather than a map which is optimisted in an artificial atmosphere. I would say a combination of the two i.e. initial and main mapping on a dyno with tweaking and fine-tuning on road is the best way to play it...

back to the topic,

Both WGT and REWorx have a good reputation so your choice.:Thumbsup!

The place has everything - within a 200 yard radius there is a pub, burger king and a shell garage.  Everything I need to survive! :Thumbsup!

Sounds good mate.  I\'ll be +1 as well - probably best to meet at one of the services on the way.  By that time I\'ll be starving, and a nice breakfast will go down a treat :Thumbs-up

I travelled from Derby to Portsmouth to have my car sorted by Geff.

Also Ross @ Dragon is very good and rebuilt my engine - I just wanted a rolling road remap and diagnosis of a boost problem and as Ross doesn\'t have a rolling road it went to Geff.

You are really lucky you have a nearer alternative mate.

Just done a search of the 3 from where I live and this is what it came out with:
Carl
Time: 3 hr 36 min

reworx
Time: 3 hr 48 min

WGT
Time: 4 hr 1 min

I am in the same boat with this:

http://www.neweraimports.com/soldcarDetails.jsp?carId=291 (http://www.neweraimports.com/soldcarDetails.jsp?carId=291)

Built by WGT but the fact is...I live in Brighton; i am an hour from Re:Worx and 4 hours from WGT.

I am a little torn but putting 500 miles on the car and spending what would probably be a 16-hour day doing it seems daft when i have Re:Worx on my doorstep.

WGT seem cool on the phone, and Pip seems helpful, but i have also spent some time with Geoff when i was looking for a Rex and test-drove two of the ones they had down there; he was incredibly helpful, spent around two hours with me and couldn\'t do enough.

I have no hesitation in going there. I\'m lucky that one of them is close; i do feel srry for you guys stuck in the middle of all the specialists!
