Title: Starting car
Post by: hugo on March 05, 2007, 07:35:48 AM
This may be one of those stupid question but here we go! Should I start my car with the clutch pedal depressed or not? which gives faster engine turning speed ie more chance of the bugger starting!

Surely all manuals benefit from declutching at start up. Takes some of the gearbox drag away, particularly in cold weather.

I always start mine up with the clutch fully pressed I find the engine starts a little bit better but that could just be me.

I always start with the clutch down; on a piston engine it helps the engine turn over and you won\'t get a shock if the car is in gear!!
