Post by: evolutioncheng on March 02, 2007, 02:32:39 PM
Does anybody know where I can order a speed converter from? Because my car reads in km and not mph and would i need new clocks?

heres a pict of my clocks?

Also going to service the rx and wondered what spark plugs and leads are recommended the best for the rx7.  Sorry if this has been posted before.
It’s a standards engine on a 1996 plate too.

your clocks are different to mine but mine is a 92,

it had 180kmh on the clocks cause the jap\'s restrict them to 112mph and as far as i know when the speedo is converted to mph it also removes the top speed restrictor,my clocks werent changed so now read 180mph

i think your clocks will need changing as you\'ll have no need for clocks with 300mph on them:2eek

as for where to go i think newera do them but dont quote me

Ahem, fletch, you may want to visit the opticians regarding changing the clocks ;). There\'s a reason that they are ever so slightly different to yours.

The OP has a Mazdaspeed gauge cluster in the car, hence the 300 km/h clocks and the oil pressure gauge and temp gauge that actually have numbers on them.

@evolutioncheng, if I were you I\'d put some small stick-on markers on the speedo to show where 20/30/40/50 & 70mph is (or do the conversion in your head, which is what I tend to do). If you\'re not happy with that I\'d be happy to take that cluster off your hands.

Unfortunately you definately need to change the clocks and that will cost you about £100
But seeing as you are a new Rex owner I\'ll help you out:
If you send me your clocks, I\'ll send you mine (already converted and the 180 kind) and you can fit them.

As long as you pay postage each way I\'ll do the swap for absolutely free!
How does that sound ;)

Yeah Rich my clocks are the standard ones however they do have the chrome surrounds. The k from km/h is covered because they are converted so now reads m/h.

If you honestly don\'t like yours that would be fine as they are quite easy to remove.

Cheers

Geezer with the clocks......DO NOT SWAP THOSE FOR NOTHING!!!!! They are extremely sought after by anyone on the continent or across the pond. Granted, in the UK you need clocks in MPH to pass mot, but your dash setup is worth alot!

As said on MSN Rich they are nice clocks and you can convert them or put the stickers on at the 30, etc as has been mentioned.
Also just so that nobody on here thinks that I am trying to scam a new member swaping for mine was only an option :D

I still say that if I were you I would keep them hence the reason I am offering a swap for them because I love them !
Cheers
