Title: how much abuse can the stock turbo\'s take?
Post by: fletch_ on March 01, 2007, 05:43:02 PM
hey again people,

just out of curiosity,
i still have the stock twin turbo set-up ive also got a guage for each one, the first runs about 10psi and the second runs about 12psi.

is there any point in fitting a boost controller? how much can they handle safely?

im still on the stock intercooler too!

It depends on the supporting mods. Is the car stock or modded already. If you go past 0.9bar the fueling system isn\'t up to the job when tuned (with pfc installed).

Im running 0.95 to 1.0bar with much bigger intercooler, uprated fueling, uprated spark............... (list goes on)

They won\'t blow any more than that really and all they do are become hot air generators that don\'t produce any more !

I think you should be asking when does the Efficancy of the Twins drop off? and How much boost can the Stock Seals take before they start to leak (which from My experiance is just under 1 Bar with the right Mods)

You would also have to take into acount Condition, Milage on them, Your Driving style, What you use it for (Long periods of on Boost will oviously kill them quicker than say road use)
