Title: Tesco fuel!!!!
Post by: rx7pat on March 01, 2007, 01:43:29 PM
You may have read the post about my rx not working, well it just so happens that i filled up with £50 worth of tesco fuel on the 16th of feb and looking at the AA paper work my car went wrong on the 17th feb. Bare in mind that I had about £10 of fuel in the car when I filled up.

Could it just be coincedence or could tesco have killed my beloved rx7??

Just thought id see if anyone had any thoughts on the matter??:3Confused

Not sure... do you still have the fuel in the tank?  IF so save some and see if theres a way of getting it tested...

How about draining the fuel out and filling up with V power and seeing if it works then??

Or has it already blown?

Cyhpon (spelling!?) some out to keep a sample.  Have you got a receipt for the fuel?  If so keep hold of that as well and complain.

I reckon what ever is wrong with the fuel is significantly lowering the octance rating, this, as we know could kill a rex.

On the other thread apparantely the fuel was contaminated and full results middayish tomorrow.

I believe Tesco have said that people with car problems should keep the receipt and they will tell you what to do when they know what they are dealing with 100%.

my uncle has a rover in at the mo with the dodgy fuel problem. when he took the plugs out they were white. indicating that it was running very lean. and as we know rotarys dont like lean. you could have a case :Thumbs-up

Cant imagine that using only £10 worth of petrol (35 miles worth ) will be the death of the engine, the fuel seems to be killing Lamba sensors so there will be your first clue. Good luck and keep everyone posted on your findings

My sister had an old Clio, filled it to the brim with Tesco\'s crud and the next day had blue smoke coming out the exhaust!

Think it maybe just a coincedience though!

Spoke to the lass in my local Tesco\'s where I am a regular (too regular at the mo :rollin )and it appears that the petrol affected was only the 95 RON stuff, and alsmost all the outlets affected were in London - the contaminated batch was delivered about 2 weeks ago - so if you\'ve filled up very recently or filled with 99\' - no worries. :driving
