Hi
Does any one know what to use to polish the exhaust - the tip could do with a polish as it has bronzed with the heat.

Michaelb

try most car places they should have it , heres a pic of what your looking for !
Another recommendation for Autosol...
As you said it\'s bronzing I\'d guess the exhaust is stainless steel - not much you can do about that IME. BMW motorbikes tend to have stainless downpipes and run fairly/very hot and I\'ve got the same problem there. Once it\'s bronze/brown you\'re pretty much stuffed with removing it.
There\'s a polish that the Harley polish crowd use called Blue-Away that is supposed to be pretty much unbeaten when it comes to remove the discolouration. Frost (http://www.frost.co.uk/) stocks it, I\'ve never tried it as I was always frightened off by the price.
Or if you want to, get some Ferecla from any body shop / paint supplier.... you want the G6 Grade, it comes in a yellow & white tube. this is also fab for removing scuffs & scrapes from paintwork too (as it is a cutting compound body shops use to bring the shine up on a fresh paint job!!)

Hi
Guys, many thanks
d-king thanks for the photo
jono man â€" badly need the comander holder..
elford tim â€" man - that is expensive for polish…
ive got the harley stuff for doing my chromes its amazing no cut just cream but yes exspensive but puts a long lasting coat on the wheels!
I\'ve used autosol and it\'s great stuff. It will get bronzing off an exhaust but it just takes time. You\'ll have to spend 30 minutes or something on the exhaust tip and you should be able to get all of the bronzing off, not that I\'ve got a lot of spare time or anything :2Rolleyes
You have PM mate!!
Jono
scouring pad... simple :)
I just use some fine sand paper and washing up liquid to get the worst off, then i move to autosol, then the meguires fine paste stuff.
brown sauce works a treat for cleaning metal (use it on some steel wool) then follow it up with some metal polish
Total thread hijack here...

They\'re old school Mazdaspeed MS-01 rims made by Rays for Mazdaspeed. You can\'t buy them new anymore I\'m afraid.:Nono! People sometimes sell them second-hand though so hopefully you\'ll be able to find a set. If you want to see some more pics check out my car in the members rides section, lots of pics in there :InLove

Yeah! nice pics!
:mmmm :mmmm
cheers for the info!
right after all this talk of a clean pipe i had a spare hour and a variety of polishs! so first of i used a sheet of ultra fine scotch pad with some autosol as a cut paste! **** what hav i done scratched beyond belive!! but burn marks vanished so moved onto autosol on its own getting the shine back then mequires stuff \'in blue green tub\' with lots of rubbing , even shiney-er then a good old rub with the harley paste and i can see my face better than what i remember it being when new!!!
Yeah thats what I use the Autosol stuff and then the Meguiars stuff in the blue green tub.
Makes a huge difference when you step back and have a look what you have done !!
You shouldnt need to use the autosol very much, I do mine every couple of months and just the the Meg stuff in between.
So you bought everything mentioned in this thread?? lol Just dug out some 20 year old autosol, gonna polish me backbox before fitting it 2moz
I think the blue-ish colouring is caused by the heat chemically changing the metal... to get it back to shiny metal you\'ll need to use an abrasive cleaner to rub the top layer off.
i quite like the blue :)
Inspired by this thread i decided to sort out my exhaust. I used some very fine sandpaper, then Autosol to polish it up and it has come out mint.

It took me about an hour to get that finish.
Hi Frankie...
Just noticed from your pics that you have the same rims as me... except mine have gold spokes....
they look very shiney... what do you use to keep them shiney?
I use a normal polishing cloth for them, the same one i use when polishing the car.
