Title: Question about excentric shaft
Post by: R1Dude on February 24, 2007, 10:39:47 PM
Hi all, I`m currently in the middle of getting an engine ready for porting, whilst cleaning the excentric shaft I noticed that there is a something that looks like seal above the roller bearing in the flywheel end of the shaft, a steel band with a rubber inlay (or is it dirty oil?) it looks like its damadged but I am unsure, does anyone have a pic or just general knowledge as to what its supposed to look like? thanx in advance Ade:Thumbs-up

sounds like your pilot bearing seal mate...it should look rather like a primary injector diffuser o-ring....if its damaged, itll need replacing which isnt really a hard task.

It looks like the lips either side have been flattened out, any idea what could have caused this? P.s the engine I am re-building was taken out of a running 3rd gen wiv 39000 on the clock everything else looks good except for this. Thanks again.....

not quite sure how you mean...have you got any pics? My pilot bearing seal was damaged but it looked like it was falling apart.

My camera isnt good enough to get a clear picture dude, ile try and explain as well as possible........to me it looks like a metal carrier with a rubber inlay but one edge of the metal carrier looks like it has been squashed flat in .........two places:3Confused
