Title: First lot back from powdercoating
Post by: GaseJo on February 24, 2007, 06:37:54 PM
Hi all,

As above,

Second lot is with my mate now.  i.e Plenium, front of alternator, water pump, intercooler hardpipes.

NOW i could do with an answere to this question what is inside the airpump? Is it rubber or plastic? can it be stripped apart? can it be powdercoated without stripping apart? will the heat of powdercoating affect the internals of it?

Cheers Garith.

Thats looking fantastic !!! The only other thing to think about is there is a strange grounding point in the alternator cover that can cause issue for charging. I ended up getting a electrical company to find the problem because i really could find it.

I don\'t know about the airpump.

Hi shaunwil,

Thanks for the heads up about the alternator i will keep an eye out for it. I am still wondering if i should powdercoat the throttle body, still in two minds if i should strip it down or just spray paint it. Or just powdercoat with everything attached and hope the plastic bits will cope with the heat. Same as with the air pump. The worst that can happen is i will have to buy extra ones if it goes wrong.

Hi allstaruk,

No to all. The car is sat up on my drive with most of the engine in pieces (renewing rats nest while bits are being coated) the car is going to be blue and black when resprayed (hopefully soon) i wanted polished and blue under the bonnet, but as you probably know that there are quite a few engine bays out there that are like that, Not taking anything away because i think they are outstanding when polished up. I just wanted to be a little bit exclusive and as i had most of the blue bits i just went for a colour that stood out against blue.

Hi mate,

I\'m on the outskirts of Southampton in Park Gate/Warsash area, where abouts are you?

Do you reckon your mate will be able to powder coat some bits and bobs for me at all? Such as the suspension arms.

Cheers

Rich

Hi Tr1cky,

I am by the general hospital about 3 miles from city centre. Yes i am sure he can, all he needs is the bits stripped down so he does not have to put it through the company workshop (to keep costs down). Stripped down i.e no plastics or rubber pieces left on. He turned my first lot around in 3 days. I will be seeing him later today so if you let me know roughly how many pieces then i can let him know and get back to you later.

Cheers Garith.

From memory I think its 8 peices of different size\'s, the front lower arms are pretty large...

They have rubber covers on the ball joints, I\'ll need to see how these come off:Hammer As long as they do it would be great if your mate could do them.

Cheers
