Replaced the clutch master cylinder this afternoon as it was leaking quite badly passed the plastic union to the reservoir. Is this a known problem ?. It appears to be such a waste to discard a perfectly good working cylinder because of a seal leak.
Didn\'t have time to bleed the clutch. Is the slave cylinder easy accessable from underneath ?. I traced the pipework until it disappeared under the bulhead, but couldn\'t see the slave in the gloom.
Cheers
Bob
See......you should read up before you go asking.
I see from the manual you can change that plastic union bushing...probably comes in a rebuid kit Yes / no ?. However the original has covered 60K so call it preventative maintainance.

Hi
glad you got it ok, but right next to it was rebuild kits.

Well fitting the new master cylinder yesterday took 20 minutes bleeding the damn thing has now taken 4 hours and still no joy. I\'m definately missing something here !!
If there are any issues to bleeding this clutch I would appreciate some help. I have done this job many many times over the years but this has me beat to date ! I am transferring fluid from the reservior to the jar but getting no resistance in the pedal. I have tightly clamped both ends of the braided hose to prevent air leaks but no joy.
Goint to watch the Rugby and have a think.

the way I bled it was with a Gunsons one man bleeding kit, attached it the resorvoir The kit uses air pressure from a spare tyre no need to pump the pedal anymore) then undid the nipple at the clutch slave cylinder end then slowly undid the nipple and watched the fluid with the air bubbles pass through the drain tube into a jar then closed the nipple when there was no more ait bubbles
Sorted...something wasn\'t seated right. Took it all out, cleaned and refiitted it and re-bled it OK ???
