Title: Apexi PFC + FD without tuning
Post by: rx7fddriver on February 16, 2007, 07:03:32 AM
I have ordered a PFC.

The vendor says it is pregprogrammed with a several base map for Japanese domestic market vehicles and minor initial tuning/mapping is recommended for best results. (whatever it is - minor)

I heard there are differences in the octane level.

My car is a european 1992 FD â€" without any tuning!!

I want to use the PFC only for monitoring (Watertemp + Boost etc).
Can I use the new Apexi Power FC without any map-tuning?

Or if necessary, can I make modification diy?

I don’t want go to a professional although he is worth the money
but i would like avoid to drive 500 km.

Thanks

Thomas

Hi

I personally would not put an Apexi on an fd unless I was 100% sure that it had at least a basic map for your fd.

Basic map for your fd can be put on in a mater of minutes using a lap top by a tuner or someone on this side who knows what they are doing.  I had mine put on by ant and he certainly new his stuff...

It does not have to be very expensive, you will not be mapping your car but programming your Apexi unit with a standard map for your RX..

I would not take any chances with incorrect fuelling...

The base map for the FD is made conservative and safe

it\'s designed for bolt ons basically..

so that means.. Intake, Exhaust/Downpipe and Intercooler.. and the associated increase in boost...

by Running the Ecu.. you wont Grenade your motor..

but you will be running rich in the top end.. and wont be maximizing your horsepower or Fuel economy...

assuming your Fuel system is up to standard.. your A/F\'s will be hovering in the 9\'s.. @ WOT
