Title: EGI to TII compatability...
Post by: Brett on February 13, 2007, 04:33:49 PM
For my next project I\'d like to use a TII box on the 13B engine, now IIRC the output spline is different from TII to EGI?

If this is correct is there any reason why I can\'t build up a TII block using EGI rotors? (Compression ratio difference is from the rotors IIRC?)  Would the rotors fit the eccentric shaft and stationary gears?

Doing this I\'d get the tapped hole for the knock sensor etc....
Does the TII block allow the use of an EGI style mechanical OMP?

 Thanks in advance! :wave

well its quite common to see T2 engines in Na\'s in the US so i guess it would not be too hard, I read some time ago you need to change the Prop with the Gear box but i could\'nt say for sure if its becouse the box is Longer or the Splines are Diffrent???

Yes you can put NA rotors in a T2 engine and it will run but i don\'t know what would happen about the Port Timing? all the engines i\'ve seen with NA rotors have been P/P\'s? I also know its common to fit FD Stationary gears/Shaft to Custom NA engines for better hardening on the gears.

And what did I say that made you think it wouldnt be a PP? ;)

If the only difference is on the back end of the gearbox then I will stick with a N/A lump and just work on the transmission side of things....

Hmmmm I dont have an FD lump lying around atm.....guess I will need to find one and remove the Eccentric shaft then....
