Title: Making up steel pipework...
Post by: interloper393 on February 13, 2007, 02:00:08 PM
Hey guys just wondering, iv read that installing a bigger intercooler you need a remap, at the mo iv got a standard smic but i want to replace all the rubber hoses and pipework with refabricated mild steel ones, is 3" big enough and will it cause any problems?

cheers :Hammer

Did you get one of those Godspeed V-mount\'s of Ebay? If so is it any good?

As for the Piping, i\'ve just made a set of pipes for a mate here. His FMIC has 3" pipe work too and from it (it was made easyer as the IC had 3" pipes welded to it) I here people using 2.5" to 3" on road cars with little problem.

Like anything if you alter the Air density or Fuel you need to remap it, but saying that if you have a Air temp sensor in the Inlet it should pick up the temp and ajust acordingly (its only if you up the boost i think it would be a problem?? but worth getring it mapped anyway when its all done)

tbh you can\'t do alot on a Stock ECU without needing to remap it, i supose it all depends on what you have already.

Without a EMS its a bit Guess work, you realy don\'t know how much it will flow better than the stocker etc

Buy some aluminium pipe and use that,it won\'t rust inside.
