Bit of a dumb question on a rotary forum but I\'d say rx7 everytime.

There both good cars but the rx7 is more sports car and the skyline more GT car, the 7 in the hands of a good drive will easily out handle the skyline too and the look so much better.

ive got both cars. R33 gts and 1994 rx7 R2. the r33 gts is an excellent allrounder and a everyday car, lots of torque and comfort. The Rx7 is faster and more a weekend car... track car.

I bought myself an R33 GTST as a run-around when I had my subaru and I must say, it\'s a great car......I boought it as standard as I could and the only mods were an exhaust, air filter and a drift diff.....:D plus what with the looks........they are (dare I say it) unique, much like the rx7s......

However then I sold my Subaru and am now waiting on my first Rex.....
I like having one show car, and one run-around with a bit of grunt......but i\'m now selling the Skyline as it truly deserves being turned into a monster.

They are both stand out cars.........just depends on what you want.
(am selling my GTST with a driff diff on it if your interested :WaveBye )

Performance wise - RX7 every time
fuel economy wise - skyline wins! but not by alot lol.

Ive driven both around the nurburgring, you cannot compare the skyline to the RX7. I\'d compare the skyline to a fast lexus or similar, and the RX7 to an elise but so much quicker in a striaght line.

Standard RX-7 13.4 1/4 mile Skybus 14.5 slow heap.

10 sec Skybus £140,000.

10 sec RX-7    Â£20,000.

Why do you think Andy Barnes  SUMO POWER is the Driver for RE:WORX, he just loves the RX-7.  He paid out for 3 days sole hire of Santapod and eventualiy ran a 10sec run in his Skybus. First run in the RE:WORX RX-7 he ran 9.8.

Enough said.:wave

Woah Woah Woah......I was saying it wasn\'t a bad car.....I didn\'t say it was better than a rex.......

Don\'t start getting into the "REX is the best car out there" conversations because we all know where they end up.
I\'m in the exact same frame of mind as toyzRus...

It all depends on what you want mate.......

If you have no kids & dont plann on having any for a while get the rex!!

But if you need a working rear seat then get the r33!!

A mate of mie has a 33 & I found it very remote...... no feedback through the steering & not as much get up & go!!! they have also got a 4 wheel steer thingy going on & if the speedo isn\'t sorted out properly this means the rear wheels are turning more than they should be once you are mooving!!!

So the desision is up to you mate, but if your in this state: NO KIDS then I\'m affraid it\'s NO SKYLINE every time!!! REX REX REX REX REX you wont be disapointed!!!

I have both cars aswell,
R33 is more stable on the road I think.. more economical than RX7 aswell, but if you want a beast of a car, rx7 is the way to go.
Remember, R33 has more room, you can fit friends in the back *3 people*, in the rx7, you can only struggle to get 2 people in the back...., and if there are people in the back, the front people will be uncomfortable because the seats will go forward!

If you can afford any Skyline GTR, then get one *4WD* you\'ll never spin out like a monkey and they are very reliable (i\'m not saying rx7 are unreliable, im saying the skyline engine is more reliable than any other cars) :)

:D :D :D

this made me laugh

I had an RX FD for a year and and now have a R33 GTR. The diff in the cars is huge, they are bulit for different things. As said before if you are thinking of going for a R33 go GTR not the GTS. Its the baby of the Skylines, the handlings not all that, you have to spend mega bucks to get it up past 400 bhp and the tail is so happy sometimes you dont feel safe at all. The GTR is a monster of a car and is better than the GTS any day of the week.

The truth is the Skyline isnt really a drivers car as there is so much electronics and drivers aids on it, its almost impossible to lose it.

Im having second thoughts at the mo and maybe looking at another FD as it was such a buzz.

A standard RX FD will destroy a modded 400 bhp R33 GTS all day long :D

im leaning towards the rx now, ive been reading up of what seems to be the biggest issue with them "rebuilds"!!, so what it comes down to is should i buy on that needs a rebuild or one that just had one done recently??? pros and cons?
Title: rx7 or r33 gtst
Post by: Nuk Su Kow on February 12, 2007, 03:29:05 PM
Problem is....if you go with one with a rebuild.....how do you know it was rebuilt properly.....

I\'ve gone for a re-build with street port so I know exactly whats been done.....costs me a little more in the long run but buy one you think is ok, watch it go pop and then have to spend the money?
I couldn\'t be ar5ed with the hassle....:bandit

Quote from: K1HKS arseBest guy to answer would be Gurj as he has had both.

Why thankyou sir,

Right then, all depends on what you want the car for, as a daily driver and for comfort and fuel economy the Skyline would be best, for sheer good lucks and grin factor the RX7 wins hands down.

Driving wise the RX7 is far better to be driven and much more fun, the Skylines are more smoother and more practical for everyday things.

You dont need mega money to get a quick one either way tbh, the R33 GTS i have just bought is making 300bhp @ 1bar and wheel spins in 1st and 2nd gears easily. The rx7 is a different animal where it needs more control and more thought when driving as they can be unforgiving :Giggle

Best thing to do is really sit down and work out what you need the car for, or get a test drive in each and see which you prefer, obviously you ask this question on here the answer will be the RX7, you ask on the Skyline forum the answer will be the Skyline :rollin :rollin :rollin

Like Gurj says, being on here I will be biased, but seeing those 2 cars side by side the winner is obvious. :Giggle

But it does depend on what you use it for.

I sold my laguna to use rx7 as an everyday car. It\'s strange taking it to tesco and the kebab shop but it can be done! :rollin

i will make this easy for you! If you got loads of money and good nervs, buy a RX7.. And if you dont have alot of money and you want your car to start everytime buy a R33 gts.

you don\'t need loads of money with a rex, just buy a good-un OR better still buy one with high miles for cheap and have a rebuild done (£3,500 ish) then you have a good and potentially reliable car to work from
