Title: Silenced or unsilenced?
Post by: probedb on February 11, 2007, 10:03:33 PM
Mid pipe that is :)

I can\'t decide...just fitted a new exhaust which is an SMB which are supposed to be fairly quiet. Will also have an SMB downpipe fitted.

Help!

mine is silenced and is still quite loud, although recently parked next to a couple of single turbo monsters with straight through exhausts and couldnt hear mine at all lol, A guy who lives near me had a non silenced decat with bltix back box and that was very loud, so depends on if you wanna p*ss off the neighbours really lol

Is down to personal preference really, you should try and find someone with same back box as you with either silenced or non silenced and see if you like as all back boxes sound a bit different.

Im not 100% sure mine is quieter with the racing beat silencer in the midpipe. I need my db tester back to actually see what the difference is !

The car seems to drone more on the motorway, but i haven\'t driven the car much lately.

Cheers guys. I guess I could go the cheaper route of unsilenced and sell on if it\'s too loud....someone always wants a straight through pipe :)

I had this debate with myself a bit ago and decided on a silenced midpipe so that I could take it on track days.

Really pleased as is reletively quiet around town etc but on the open road it sounds awesome :cool

I actually had a guy make mine for me from Powerflow.
I have heard horror stories in the past of Powerflow but this guy has worked on some of my other cars in the past and always ends up top notch.

He had to make changes to the system due to the RX7\'s heat etc and really pleased with the results. 3" straight through.

Cheers
Eddie

I\'m running a straight downpipe and mid-section and an RE-A dolphin box. Not that bad but wont make trackdays.

I ended up silenced, got one of Dragon\'s S/S midpipes :) Everything is still sitting around as I still have to get engine bits polished, vacuum/coolant/fuel pipes replaced and stuff before I can put the engine back in. Hoping it\'s not too loud on tickover, there\'s some old people in the block of flats I\'m moving into apparently, wouldn\'t want to cause a heart attack :evillaugh

Hi

I have a dragon performance silenced mid pipe and a HKS back box and it is very load….

With out a doubt get a silenced mid pipe, I honestly could not stand any more noise and I like it loud.
