By reading various things i am convinced by rubber bushings need replacing in my suspension, 3 bushings per side right?
I dont know all that much about suspension but been reading about aftermarket toe links and trailing arms how they replace the need for bushings with a metal one, is this the same bushings or completely unrelated ones and im getting confused?
i.e replace toe links and trailing arms with aftermarket ones, and no more clang? Would this make ride harder as no rubber to cushion it?
Ryan
Ryan, the number of bushings depends on the part of the suspension that you wish to replace.
Aftermarket toe links and trailing arms are more for tightening up the rear end of the car. This is also known as wheel hop, when launching the car. It will make the ride harder.
This would best be kept for track and drag strip usage. IMHO.
Keep to standard stuff.

How many different bushings are there in the rear suspension?
I though there was the 3 rubber OEM ones each side?
They are apparently what i need to replace to stop this clanging. Ride hardness doesnt bother me very much but i can get a set of toe links + trailing arms quite cheap and am wondering if it would be cheaper for me to replace the OEM rubber bushings, get some polyurethane ones (do they sell either in the UK for a reasonable price?) or will toe links and trailing arms remove my need to replace bushings? (or am i thinking of a completely wrong part of the suspension?)
Sorry for the amount of questions that are no doubt confusing as im not sure what im on about :D
there are alos 3 sperical metal bushin on the rear lower arm and u can get those in mazda, but not cheap tho

Duh im thinking of rear pillow ball bushings just realised.
I guess that toe links and trailing arms dont replace these :D
Oh well has anybody replaced these to get rid of the clunk noise that develops over the years as they wear down? Where from and how much are they roughly? Any alternatives to the mazda OEM rubber?
Was thinking of importing an 18 piece motorsports bushing kit so all depends on which is cheaper :)
Ryan
those toe links are to make the rear end stiffer as said in other reply and there is no supplyer as yet in the world as i can find to replace bushes with performance ones so standerd they will have to be.........at a cost.
as ive posted im in the process of making available a complete set of nylon bushes for the whole car but its a while of yet, watch this space!!!
ps check your anti roll bar bushes these clunk a lot and its easy to see when jacked up with weight on suspension just give bar a tug up and down

FD suspension goes like this:
were can you get them from, cos ive looked every were thats why im trying to sort out getting some made
Chris the race prep man reckons the stock mazda stuff is EXCELLENT. Alternatives that I know of are Feed and MazdaSpeed - but they are LOTS of money, Feed are between £850-900 in the UK before fitting  :)
