Title: FD Losing Water at 68k..rebuild needed?

Hi, looking at a 93 RX7, the guys says its losing water,
could this be a sign of a rebuild needed?
 
I guess the mileage (68,000) is high anyway so probably fairly close?

Depends what the price is though. If you get it for a song with a view to immediately getting it rebuilt you could end up with a nice motor on a fresh engine. Just depends on the price and whether you want the hassle of getting it rebuilt.

With that mileage I\'d definitely be working on the assumption of a rebuild being needed soon, loosing water or not. Also bare in mind the irresistible temptation of having extra bits done when rebuilding...

I don\'t think any of us can stress strongly enough that with no engine history and 68,000 miles on the clock you should budget for an immediate engine rebuild.
 
Of course, the engine could last for ages, but water loss is a strong indicator of water seal failure in a high mileage engine.
 
You need to budget about £4,000 for an engine rebuild, maybe less but don\'t get any ideas into your head that buying a Rex is likely to be a bargain...the good ones are worth what people ask for them because they can prove the engine [rebuild] history
 
[I don\'t feel 100% qualified to give this kind of advice, but I wouldn\'t want someone to buy a Rex because they thought it was a bargain - it almost never is in the long run]

hi, im the guy selling the car i think!? haha
its down with kareem at powergains, the same guy who built a few cars including dre\'s  car etc... He hasnt had a chance to check it yet but quoted under 3 grand if it does need a re-build and that includes warrenty! The car is reasonably priced at just over 2k as it mint, with mot and tax!

Can someone lend me two and a half grand please? you\'ll get it back in a few weeks! Even if it was fooked, I could break that and get double the money back! What a bargain, why do I have to be so poor. :)
