BOV?
i\'m looking at getting a NurSpec exhaust system for my 92fd efini type r and was curious as to peoples opinions on BOV\'s??
do you reccomend one? If so which one and for what reasons?
Many thanks,
Matt
what ever you do dont get a cheap one of ebay they leak of and cant hold the boost!!!! im running a bailey that did the job with the twins and was loud but i dont need it as im going single and going to chance no bov!!
i dont suppose you\'ve got any video clips have you LRP? are you selling your bailey BOV?
i had a blitz and it was brilliant...nice sound...holds the boost perfect
Greddy or SARD racing versions they don\'t leak at all both top units
Hey - LRP, want to sell your BOV then? If so, how much? :D :p

what do sard blow off valves sound like??? never come across one b4??? what can they be compared to???
I\'ve not heard one Myself but the Zx boys seem to Reckon that Turbo XS are the way to go....

my m8 had a turbo x-s on his scooby, was LOUD...sounded like a amplified version of a bailey dump valve
I had a Greddy Type R BOV and a Greddy Relief Valve when I had the twins and that was nice and loud...
Blitz sounds good, not the loudest thou.
I\'ve used Blitz, HKS and Bailey in the past, all three are good and reliable, all have handled boost fine. In terms of sound, I think the Blitz sounds \'nicest\', but not necessarily loudest. HKS can be tuned with a replacement valve to make it sound different (I did change mine, but must profess to not noticing much difference).
I too am going single, so am removing the Blitz valve (and the Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust for that matter). Will be posted in For Sale soon.
Cheers, Craig

you seem to have the set-up that i want!
can i have 1st dibs when you do decide to sell?
im also interested in a bov as well:
will this blitz one fit without problem

and is this the one you guys are saying sounds the nicest ? :)
As £39 with free pnp sounds pritty good
if it is a proper Blitz that is a good price
you will still need a fitting kit though

where could i get one of those? then id buy the both..
or is there somewhere that will offer a deal on the two?
Looking more closely that is not a genuine Blitz bov here be the proper one

he has welded the fitting kit flange to a bigger bit of ali, but essentially the fitting kit is a 19mm flange that connects to the silicone hose in place of the stock bov
the proper ones are considerably more pricey

Lots of kits at RHD https://www.rhdjapan.com/home/products/products.php?int_category_relation_id=1386&int_catalogue_id=427&page=1&nextpage=0
I have the Graddy type RS https://www.rhdjapan.com/home/products/product_detail.php?int_product_id=897 which make the nice chirrupy noise
EDIT: What Simon said

so that should just bolt straight on right? as the fitting kit is already on there..
i think ill just buy that then ?
i have a type R and type S greddy one for sale if your interested.:)
I\'m now even more undecided! lol!
Not sure whether to get a bov or a wastegate? I love the fluttering noise a wastegate makes!!
Can anyone suggest what would be the best for the car?

You already have an internal wastegate setup on the twins. The wastegate is an integral part of any turbocharged application, bleeding off any excess boost pressure. You can put a boost controller inline to it, to adjust boost levels.
The BOV is a different thing entirely, when you come off the throttle the pressured air has nowehere to go so the bov opens to release the charge. If this didn\'t happen you would experience compressor surge and potentially damage the turbine.
You want a bov, a wastegate doesn\'t make any real noise unless venting to a screamer pipe.

thanks for claryfying that mate, im still learning! only had the car for 2 months!
this forum is full of useful information, gotta be one of the best forums im a member of.
Matt
Pleasure, I learnt all that I know from here too
i thought the wastegate divirted exhaust gas away from the turbo, thus controlling boost. not venting the pressure inself
Yes. Once you reach set boost the wastegate is open fully, which as you say diverts any more exhaust gas away from the tub so the tub doesn\'t spool any further.
I didn\'t word my reply well enough obviously

That should probably read the STOCK wastegate doesn\'t make much noise, i\'m not running a BOV on my single, just the HKS wastegate which is fed back to the downpipe. Makes a hell of a chattery racket, maybe even louder than the BOV was...
Screamer pipes, well they ARE loud!
I have an HKS style wastegate (cheap ebay copy jobbie). It is plumbed back into the downpipe. I don\'t notice any noise to be honest. But then I\'m too busy listening to the turbo !! :D
I\'ve got a nice Blitz BOV that\'s up for sale on eBay at the mo. It comes with all bits to fit directly into a twin turbo FD, including brackets and pipe work.
If anyone\'s interested take a look.
