Just found out something u all will be interested in...this is what a bloke posted regarding import MOT`s.
QuoteAnyways I phoned up VOSA and asked for info on a imported Celica GT4 ST205 which I was going to be buying from Japan and wether or not it would need a CAT test when MOT time comes around.. The advisor stated to me that if its an import all that is required if your local garage has no common sense or thinks they know better, then you need to contact your cars manufacturer, being TOYOTA, and get them to supply you with a letter stating your engine code, reg plate etc that your car is in fact an import and was never intended for UK roads therefore doesnt comply with UK emissions regulations therefore only goes through the lesser idle test..
I Found this on a GT Turbo website, does anybody know if this applies for RX7`s as well? Any idea what the idle emission figures are for a standard RX7?
QuoteFor any interested parties the legal requirements for emissions are as follows:
Max CO2:
Normal Idle - 650/750 rpm = 0.5%
Fast Idle - 2400/2600 rpm = 0.3%
HC - 200
Min/Max Lambda reading at fast idle of 2400/2600 rpm - 0.97% - 1.03%
QuotePlease note the figures I have quoted above are those given to me by VOSA on the phone today and seem diff to the ones in the below pic.. WEIRD..

I think for cars that are L reg and older, the CAT\'s were not required if fitted, so if removed from the car the no cat test can be used (3.5% CO and 1200 ppm HC).
For import cars the test still applies, but the year of import/registration is important. I believe if you are importing a 1999 car or newer, they are subject to more stringent test requirements. I could well be wrong on this - so please get another opinion, as this is what I have been told, not found out for myself !
Anything pre June 1995 will be co of 3.5% and HC\'s of 1,200ppm (Technicially this can also includes UK cars)
The figures quoted on the 1st post are for after this date which is the cat test.
Seems like someone I know has fallen foul on his mot today. They have cat tested him for a 1992 Import (this is non rex btw)
Problem is that\'s what the chassis brought up on the MOT/DVLA computer!!!!
So as my car is a 1994 with de-cat, do I need to have the fast idle test? Am I likely to fail the MOT?
Now then Trev, just take your car to where im going on Friday for my MOT ( a place near sleaford ) and it wont go near the emissions tester:D
Place is prestige vehicle imports in Helpringham.:Thumbsup!
