well i\'m a dick. killed my 2nd rx7. mashed it into a wall after some slippery slidey ice action. whilst showing it to a prospective buyer, no less.
/goes to buy a bus-pass. :(
insurance claim reporting are closed at weekends (wish they\'d tell you about these type of things when selling you the cover) so had the car recovered to garage and will have to wait till monday for the official assessment verdict, but i have litle doubt they will even think twice. fresh wgt engine rebuild with only 2k miles on it too. if it\'s undamaged (couldn\'t lift the bonnet to check, as it was stuck) i may see if i can buy it back. what do you reckon the engine might be worth (stock twin-turbo with 6 months warranty remaining)?
50p to me:Thumbs-up
Unlucky fella..... was the guy seriously interested or was he a tyre kicker???
Jono
Ouch! sorry to hear about the above.
I did a similar thing the other week, was super icey tried to brake at a junction but nope, the car just carried on out into the main rd then stopped. Thank god nothing was coming though.
damn dude...
you must be well gutted. that prolly put a dint into your pride too eh!
bet that guy got out thinking "stuff buying an RX7!! they too dangerous!!!" :)
how bad was the damage? is it totally screwed?
bugger !! sorry to hear that mate.
At least you got a mag feature tho, which is more than most of us:Thumbs-up
That sucks donkeys :(
hope you are okay!
Sorry to hear that, I was unlucky just before christmas with my rx7... They are quite a handful aren\'t they?
Hope you and your passenger was alright :)
BTW if it helps, get an oyster card.. LOL I got one :P
*yes I take the bus since my rx7 died ;__;*
Bad luck Juz. Sorry to hear that. Looked sweet in the feature.
Yeah that\'s rubbish I am soooooooooooooo glad I was on holiday when the snow came the other week.

I was the prospective buyer!
Gutted for you as it was a really nice rex you had. If you need any help with the insurance company, details of accident, value of car etc - then give me a ring.
feel for you mate.
let us know how it goes hopefully they will pay out and you can laugh about it later.
All the best
Oh no !!!,
Sorry to hear of this mate, wont go on too much as can imagine your annoyance :Hammer
Lets hope the insurance is all good,
Gurj
Ahhh Man, Your not having much luck.
Look on the bright side you\'ll get paid out off the Insurance and won\'t have to mess about trying to sell it.
How bad is it? Is it not Repairable?
yeah, thankfully we both got out ok which is the important bit.
i\'ve spoken to the insurance today and they just asked if there is any particular garage i want it taking to for a repair quote, lol? i was expecting them to just ask where it was and send their assessor to look at it, and tell me it would be written off. so maybe a bit of hope...
although if it does end up written off i will lose out. it was insured with value of £5000 as that\'s what i originlly paid for it when it had done 52k miles with no rebuild. since then i\'ve took the total spending on it to over £9000. and if my last experience with insurance companies valuing RX7s is anything to go by, i will probably get offered £4000 or something ridiculous like that :(

hi tim :) thanks for that, hopefully i won\'t - but if anything comes up i will get in touch.
did you have any joy with the other cars you looked at? any closer to owning one? my brother told me after you\'d left that you\'ve got a teg... is that yours in your avatar? it looks great, i think i will get a dc2 after i\'ve been to and come back from australia!

Yeah pretty close now, I put a deposit down on one and picking it up on Thursday :D . Its Jim_B\'s rex from on here.
My avatar is my Teg, that shot was taken at Nurburgring. They are cracking cars, I\'d certainly recommend one, will be alot cheaper to run than an RX7 too. I\'m just craving more power now and rwd. I can\'t bear to sell the Teg though so it\'s gonna be my daily drive! and possibly become a track toy too :)
Btw if your insurance is not an agreed value policy then I don\'t think you will be hampered by the £5k purchase price. It\'d be based on market value, which can go up as well as down.
id make sure to tell them that you can proove that you have receipts for over X amount if they do decide to write it off.
This may get a bit messy, You need to speak to the engineer who looks at the car (if it gets that far) in this day and age 60% of claimes are done via Pictures and the List value, they won\'t see it as just having 4k spent on it rather it will be in highest Grade (you would have to check the list value of an FD)
just received the confirmation today that they have deemed it beyond economical repair. i phoned the chap at the garage it was recovered to in order to get my tax disc posted back, and he told me the assessor engineer had said what amazing condition it looked like it was in before the bump - so a glimmer of hope there.
fortunately i have all the receipts and invoices etc so i can prove that it had just had a rebuild and would be worth more far than a non-rebuilt 60k mile example that they will pull off autotrader.
haven\'t had chance to do this today, but tomorrow i will speak to the claims department to see if they can tell me what category write-off they have classed it as, whether there was any structural damage, whether there was any damage to the engine, and if not how much i can buy it back for...
Fingers crossed for you chap.
Hi Juz
Sorry to hear about your misfortune…try to get it repaired, you will be surprised how little second hand panels / parts go for..
Any pictures? Is it really bad? I had a knock on the nose which damaged the lip aswell. Initial estimate was around £700 I got the nose glued for £35.00 by a plasi welder, lip I got from Japan for next to nothing…to cut the story short it cost me £320 in total and it looks better then the original…
Regards,
Michael
