Pretty much as it says in the title,
Who has removed the butterflies in the UIM and have you noticed any differernce at all, also whats the best way to go about this.
Alan
If you send a pm to Matt username arrouk he\'s removed butterflies and ported his throttle body.
Kevin
Cool will do, has anyone else got any info or done this?

Butterflys in the UIM????? Didn\'t know ther was anything in there!!!
Mate has removed them off his GT4 & says there is a big difference in power!!
Jono
Yep there are butterflies in the UIM for the double throttle actuator
Yep done it on mine, removed the centre divider - some say on the US forums that it makes little difference. Running my car in at the moment and have changed a lot of other bits so can\'t comment on whether it\'s worthwhile.
sounds interesting anybody else shine light on this ? before i put it back 2geather picking uo ported plate today. getting closer to start up
Sorry I\'m not going to help here but do you mean in the Plenum itself?
Just wondering as have a polished one to put on and so could do it before fitting.
Cheers
Eddie
think he means the throttle body mate
i want to do this on mine too (not just loitering to point things out!)
Hold on..... are we on about the twin choke system in the throttle body or is there another set of butterflys that open at a set rpm in the manifold that runs accross the top of the engine itself (UIM)???
Jono
Sorry Allstaruk, but hopefully will help :)
These are the butterflies that I mean in the Plenum itself (is the plenum AKA UIM?)
Hope this helps are these the ones you are refering to?
Lol yes the uim; removed the double throttle altogether (not the throttle body butterflies). The double throttle on the plenum is there as a safety mech and opens up once the car is warmed up to allow the secondary runners to flow, so it means you have to resist the temptation to boot it until the car has been properly warmed up.
so the throttle body has 3 plates and plenum also!
had no idea??
is that the same on all of our cars?
That\'s what I thought as you cant remove the ones in the throttle body otherwise surely you would have WOT all of the time ?:rollin :Hammer
Can you actually remove the rotating bar aswell then or is it just a case of removing the 4 srews that hold the plates onto the rotating bar?
Cheers
Eddie
if you can, how?
I am talking about the butterfliesn in the UIM as pictured aka the plenum these are there to stop you from booting it while cold, I have removed the solenoid so they serve no purpose.
My intention is to open it up to be one big hole rather that just removing the butterflies I was just wondering if anyone has any advice.
Wav did this to one of his.
Just searched for the thread :

interesting reading im going to do mine this week and look into the other ideas he had:Talking1
just seen this, yes i have done mine and i would say removing the butterfly\'s is worth doing, porting into a single hole is a pain in the a$$ so unless your running higher power/single its prob not worth it.
the tye bar will just slide out when the plates are removed you can then fill the hole with liquid metal or simply tap the hole (m10) and screw a bolt in there.
if any one has any questions please feel free to send me a pm.
