Title: Intergral Thermostat on a Sandwich Plate
Post by: TwistedHumour on February 02, 2007, 10:33:11 AM
Morning all!

Could anyone tell me the benefit of having an integral thermostat on a sandwich plate?  And if I even need one.

The plate I\'m looking at is only a few quid more with one, but I\'ve no idea what its for.  I\'ve asked the vendor (Clive) and he\'s not too sure either.

Thanks in advance
Chris

for measuring what ??

OIL / WATER etc...

if its an integral thermostat - then you might need a different type gauge

what happens if it fails , can you replace it - or a new sandwich plate neeeded ?

OK its not the answer to the question - just more things to think about :D

It\'s for my oil temp/pressure gauges.  I said what gauges I had and was offered two sandwich plates - one with the thermostat and one without.

Not sure what happens if it breaks though - buy a new one I suppose!

Just had a thought - seems pretty obvious now! (I think) :p

Does the integral thermostat bypass the cooling system when the oil temp is low?

Clive at Shy (see links at the top).  Â£32 for the normal one and £46 for the one with the thermostat.  I think it might depend on what type of gauges you have, but if you drop him a pm he should be able to help.

and all the integral temp sender will do - is make it so that you can use a electronic gauge rather than a mechanical one with the temp probe inside the gauge

A ha!  Gauges are already installed and routed into the engine bay.  Just need to be plugged in.
