Title: Exhaust touches bumper... should I worry?
Post by: dreamers on January 31, 2007, 09:18:09 PM
Just had new veilside d1 bumper fitted.

Looks great but realised the blitz exhaust touches the bumper at the side. Should I be very worried? I know exhaust gets hot...but dunno if it\'ll melt bumper.

Advice would be appreciated. Don\'t have time to take it to bodyshop and need to do a motorway run this weekend first :(

Nah dont worry, the bumper will just melt away. ;)

You would really need to take it to an exhaust place to get them to re-hang it.

do you have a plumbers merchant nearby? they can sell you a heat proof mat [they use it for souldering:2eek ] cost would be less than a tenner!

Just stand on the Tail pipe :)

You\'ll just bend it down a bit, don\'t go driving too far like that there is no point in Damaging the Bumper for the hell of it.

Check all the mounts are in place too, often if a center one comes loose it will touch (well it does in my world ;) LOL)

Thanks for all your responses. Had a good look this morning, its not actually touching but about 1cm away. Looks as though it is due to shadows and stuff.

Should make the trip and i\'ll get it sorted when i get there.

Thanks for your help though. D king the spoiler on your car looks the business!

mine must have been well loose cos its melted through the lower valance and then a little into the bumper its self. ive tightened it up now so it looks like i have sorted the problem.
