Post by: allstaruk on January 31, 2007, 08:04:24 PM
Hi ya guys

I am in the process of uprating my fueling I\'m looking at going for fairly decent power at some point prob going single when I get the cash.

Just wondering what fuel pump anyone recomends and what are the pro\'s and cons of each.

Was thinking of a supra pump what does anyone recon.

Also where is the best place to pick a decnent one up cheep.

Is this a straight replacment for the in tank pump and does it suffer from problems when its low on fuel?

I heard that the only pump that doesn\'t have problems when low on fuel is the Apexi BNCR 33 pump which apparently is a straight replacement.

That\'s what I\'m going to go for in a few months time.

Apexi BNCR33 pump was good for 450rwhp on my old setup, so defo recommend it.

I have overkilled my fuelling spec now so dont ask  :rollin

Skyline or Supra pump are both direct in tank replacements and unless you are looking to go further than 500ish they will be all you need. As for suppliers, 1st point of call would be the usual suspects see banners above, failing that fleabay or second hand parts in Japan.

I couldn\'t get to the bottom as to why.  I did a bit of searching and couldn\'t really find out anything usefull as to what the problems with this are - just people saying that they wouldn\'t use them.  I could actually only find 1 engine failure which had been caused solely by the Walbro (this was because the sock came off it and sucked up crap from the petrol tank)

(I\'m also going through the list of what fuel pump to go for!)

i know of three cases of them actually failing, plus they are noisey. So for intank pumps go for a Supra or the Apexi Pump with Pump Rewire mod

Right I can\'t afford the apexi one, although I\'d love to so I\'m going for the supra one with the wiring modded.

Is it just a standard supra pump I need, i.e. all I need to do is phone about and ask for a supra TT pump?

I\'m new to this fueling so any help would be appreciated.

Alan

P.S. Whats the opinion of the bosch 040 I can get them for 70 quid.

Yeah the Denso Supra Pump will be good with the wiring modded, the pump as standard was over specced for the Supra at 500fwhp

nooo to the Bosch 040, I outflowed that one at 350rwhp plus I had massive surge problems not to be compared with the Bosch 044

Also the supra pump is the only one along with the apexi bnr33 that doesn\'t suffer from problems under a 1/4 tank.

The setup would be fine, best advice though - fit it outside the cabin or, some form of box, dont do the usual mount it in the wheel well !
