Hi all,
want to get my FD dash & doors smartened up in the new year & have seen a few around with laquered/painted bits. Seems like this could lighten up the interior more than carbon, so acouple of questions for anyone who\'s had it done - where\'d you get it done? rough cost? is it hardwearing? Thanks - appreciate any advice - Neil
....! wasn\'t intending to insult anyone who\'d installed carbon fibre ......if that\'s the reason why no one replied
Anyone got any info on suppliers & costs for carbon fibre then? Open to suggestions ;)
Thanks, Neil
would\'ve thought any decent bodyshop would be able to do this.
No I think no ones replied as hardly anyones done it and everyone\'s eating Turkey hehe
Carbon will be VERY pricey to do all that. I was thinking of painting mine up. You could do it yaself if you get a decent air brush and the correct paint. I intend to do mine in the new year, gonna do it myself with some help from my local paint place who are nice chaps...
Here\'s some pics of what I\'m gonna hope to do...

Clive has yellow\'d his up a from the inside, looks great! Will last a long time if you do proper prep work / use the right paint on it
hope thats some help!
lol don\'t worry think most the peaps round here will have thicker skins than to be offended so easily (http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/otn/wink/smily012.gif)
i had looked at doing a similar paint job on my old scoob but must confess i never got around to it. My plan was to get some spare part & do them so if i ballsed up no real loss & interior of car woodn\'t be stripped while i messed about (http://smilies.jeeptalk.org/cwm/cwm/uhoh3.gif) guess that\'d be less easy with RX7 thou as not so common......
Anyway i had got a few tips on how to go about painting the surrounds etc which was along the lines of remove said bits (http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/contrib/AoErat/awink.gif) lol then clean VERY THOROUGHLY apply a few layers of wotever paint, Titanium looks very nice IMO (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/ruinkai/coolgleamA.gif), then laquer & jobs a good un!
All in theory as i say i never got round to trying it but for what it\'s worth (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/geno/jump.gif)
Si
Mike.....Doh! body shop, of course - obviously brain full of turkey.....thought people must\'ve used some of these RX specialists to do them, having seen a few (including Clive\'s @ the newera imports bbq) on cars & in mags.
Andy, Si - exactly what I was after :D Saw a good description on the iluvmyrx7 site & decided there was no way I was going to screw it up myself.
Thanks for info all - Neil.
Mazdaspeed do a full carbon kit ... it;s about £600 by the time you got it over here though
I can supply the mazdaspeed carbon...(look) dash for 430 delivered :)
Cheers
Adam
Ouch!
Painting it is, then....
Happy new year all - thanks for the info
:wave
Neil
Adam
Sorry - didn\'t see your mail until after my last post, so apologies for the apparent insult:o
Can you also supply the door/armrest fittings (as per andy\'s pic)? If so, can you give me a price?
Appreciate that - thanks, Neil
Problem here is that mazdaspeed only make one for the drivers side..... plus it\'s nearly as much as the dash panels....about 300 quid :( delivered. If you look at some other posts on here i\'m sure someone was getting some real carbon panles made up and there is going to be a group buy or something. Have a fish around.
Other than that the painting option is the only other way. I think thats what i\'m going to do on my next FD which is on it\'s way :)
Cheers
Adam
