Title: Re-sprayed Fd\'s ??
Post by: gsb876 on January 30, 2007, 08:44:57 PM
Hi Guys ,

I know more than a few peeps have had resprays on thier FD\'s, can i have some prices please to see what the average cost is of a decent re-spray ??

Not Pete Sparrow type re-sprays but the usual colour or candy colours ?? :)

Have something in the pipe-works thus looking at prices,

Gurj

Gurj I\'ve used Clements Bodyshop in Ripley for both my previous cars.

On the previous Probe, a straight respray in the same colour plus fitting a body kit (inc £500 for fitting the nose as it was a real bastard!) came to £2k but they\'re very good.

Ive resprayed mine so know my way round an rx7 stripping panels etc. I could do it for £950 for any solid/met/single stage pearl. I cant/wont do candy so wont say i can, lol. Only problem is im in torquay, lol. A bit far unless you have relatives in the english riviera :)

heres mine(single stage pearl from aprilla):

Ive only one photo example of a purple. It was on my mates escort and its rover amaranth (its the purple/blue pearl you see on coupes and metros from 90\'s). Ive done other purples in solid and pearls before but not photo\'d.

Didn\'t realise Matt had left. Not been round for a couple of years and it was both of them that did various bits of my car :) Saw the posters of your car tho!

Gurj it\'d be worth ringing them (number will in the yellow pages) as they can give you a better quote if you show them the car.

Mines in getting candi cobolt blue and is costing me a little over 2K. That includes getting the body kit blended in and everything that can be smoothed is being smoothed ie. rear wipers, rear washer, rear reflecters, spoiler removed. And its being done by the body shop that got the award at max power live last year for the best paint job.

Gotta love the mazda winning blue, my fave colour. Am thinking of getting mine sprayed next year but want the engine bay done the same. Problem is all the brake pipes, wiring and so on inside the engine bay. Could prob mask all this off but would take bloody ages.

yeah my engine bay is still silver well some of it.
heres a pic

you can just see at the back of the engine bay its still a bit silver.

I may try getting some cans made up and do it myself its not that bi an area and not many ppl see it.

that actually looks fine with sides sprayed, never thought of that.

i dont like nice sprays with obvious red or white bays but making the bay black (if its not already) would show up chrome well or makking it a feature looks great.

Our FD needs a respray, not sure what though, some gret colours there. The car is currently silver, i fancy getting her resprayed in her original colour...

Or maybe a nice shiny black with flakes through it...

I should be respraying mine before summer, hopefully a friend is going to spray it if I help rub her down... so shouldnt cost too much although I imagine it will be pretty damn boring!!
Going to go for black again, but as shineeeeey as possible. I didnt enquire at the local paint shop I have used before and they quoted about 1k for just a respray in a normal colour nothing fancy.
