Title: Plumbing Intercoolers in ?
Post by: Grizzly on January 27, 2007, 10:54:02 PM
Hi all.

Were rigging up an Intercooler on my Mates Single Turbo and it struck me what size Pipe would be best?

The Outlet on the Turbo is 2.5" and the Inlet elbow is 3"? The Intercooler has\'nt had the inlet and Outlet welded on yet so this can be changed quite easly.

I\'ve had a look at quite a few diffrent cars and they all seem to be diffrent, So the question is will there be any diffrence if i use 3" or 2.5"? I would imagen the 3" would hold more Volume so may effect the responce???? But on the other hand it would be easyer to shape the pipe if its smaller bore??

All depends on the size of the turbo, the length to the intercooler from the turbo (smaller to, larger from I.C.).

I bought the a 3 inch 30 degre stainless steel pipe of ebay. that is the one from the intercooler to the elbow.
I got it from //www.pipeworx.com or http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pipe-Werx-Performance-Exhausts.

the other pipe from the turbo to the intercooler. I had some old 2. 3/4 stainless steel pipe left over from my old set up. I cut it at angles and made my own bend.
