As title...
APEXi - Power FC & Hand Controller
Mazda - RX7 - Series 1-3 91/12-95/11
I have a pre facelift M plate car
i think the plugs are different so if u have the wrong ecu it wont plug in
That\'s what I thought, I\'m wanting order one from Nengun now but there\'s a few options and don\'t wanna get the wrong one!
I think they\'ve got it wrong. Series 1-3 is a 1st gen.
These are the options...
APEXi - Power FC & Hand Controller
Mazda - RX7 - Series 1-3 91/12-95/11
Series 4 95/12-98/12
Series 5 99/1-00/9
I\'m guessing the series number doesn\'t reflect the car, but what series the ecu is...
According to that series 3 is for cars made betwene December 1991 thru November 1995.
I think it\'s the 8bit ECU you need?

My car is exactly the same as that in your avatar lol
I think that\'s the one I need, just wanted make sure really...
Oh cool! :cool
I think all UK cars are the early 8 bit. (don\'t know if yours is uk but worth a shot! :chat )
It\'s an import, but the pre facelift version! M reg, 94 I think off the top of my head?
Oh if its a 94 registered then its deffinately the 8bit early model.
Same as what I use in mine :)
It may be worth your while talking to Pip or a tuner before you buy, the simple reason is alot of the Tuners will do you a deal on the set up (which is some where between £3-400) so you may end up with a PFC that on face value looks more but you save on the set up and have a warntee.
Usaly £800 is a guide line under that is doing well all set up and rolling.
If you do go the Jap PFC route you need to find out exactly when your Car was made, if its a late 95 M you may have a 16 bit car, your best of pulling the Cover off the ecu and counting how many Plugs go into it (early ones have Four and late have Three) your proberly right though most M reg\'s are 8 Bit
If its any use - this is what the connectors look like on an 8bit jobbie :
Cheers Ricco, I\'ll have a look this weekend!
I\'d get one from Pip but they\'re about £500 from WGT, when I can get it for a 3rd less you have to research I suppose!
Thanks all for the advice :D
Ian It is going to take a while to come from Nengun.
About 4 weeks but if you like mine is coming soon (ordered on 23rd December) and I have already fitted a second hand one to mine. Worth a thought as you will only be paying same as Nengun just quicker. :D

What\'s the latest update on the shipping on the site? Is it the 8bit version?
Yeah the one I have ordered is the 8 bit version and the S series which is the one with an updated base map (or so I\'ve been told)
Had the confirmation that has been sent so should be here next week. You\'re only in stoke so wouldn\'t even need to post it or you could even pop over and look at it first. Up to you matey.:Thumbs-up

1, 4 and 5 relate to the chassis numbers. Check your chassis number (plate rivetted to drivers side of the front bulkhead in the engine bay), if your car is a 12/95 or earlier car it will be FD3S-1xx xxx, FD3S-2xx xxx or FD3S-3xx xxx and will be an 8 bit car with the 4 plugs to the engine loom as in Richo\'s pic. If the chassis number is FD3S-4xx xxx or greater you\'d need the later type with 3 plugs on the engine loom to fit the 16-bit cars....

could you let me know how much if you havent already agreed to sell it etc?
cheers
Right had a look at the car, it\'s the 4 port connection type ECU, and the chassis number is FD3S-3xx xxx.
So it looks like I\'m wanting the 8bit version that Eddie has, in which case, chances are I\'ll probably have it!
