I am after some knowledge and some help.
My ReX is not starting. She turns over, sometimes starts to fire but doesn\'t most of the time just turns over. When this first happened i thought that she had run out of fuel as being unregistered i was starting her on the drive everyday just to keep her running. Then one day i had this problem so i thought what a prat i am letting her run out of fuel. So today i put some fuel in and on advice i turned the ignition to first click heared the fuel pump start done this a few time to prime the pump. I have been reading post similar to this and most of the time it seems to be flooded engines but i can\'t smell fuel in the engine bay. It is a pain in the rear as she is now registered and even though there is alot of work to be done i want to drive her from time to time. PLEASE PLEASE any ideas on this.
Cheers Garith.
I\'m no expert here but if you have been starting the car and not driving it then it could have choked itself up.
I would personally follow the "Starting a Flooded Car" thread: http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=604&highlight=flooded
Then take it for as long a blast as you can to keep everything moving.
Hopefully someone will confirm this or give a better idea.
All the best with it.
Eddie
Fuel smell in the engine bay? I cant see that being caused by flooding. You just might get a whif from the exhaust.
Try turning it with the pedal fully pressed down.
Your problem sounds just like the one I had with mine once I got it off the trailer and into the garage and had run it briefly a few times. A set of plugs and de-flooding and it started a treat.
It\'ll take 20/30 mins to de-flood it - try it before worrying further.
Thanks all for the information. The only reason that i thought it might not be flooding is when it first did not start and i thought it had run out of fuel was about 3 weeks ago. So when i tried it again today i thought that the fuel would have avaporated by now, So when i tried to start it first time i did not use pedal i just tried with the key. Anyway i have a new set of leads and plugs so i will try to fit them & try the de-flooding aproach. Thanks All.
Cheers Garith.
