Guys,
First off, lets please try and keep chit-chat out of the thread. Please confirm if you will or will not be attending. At this present moment in time we will all need to arrange our own travel and accomodation. I will probably be leaving the UK on the thursday night, but this is yet to be confirmed (last time we left on a friday at 6pm, and drove all the way and made it to nurburg about 6am saturday morning - there was no traffic at all.)

Bump to remind people.
Everyone else, have you looked into Hotel booking yet?
Ok, i propose we leave on Thursday the 14th catching the eurostar from folkestone at 14:00 approx UK time, returning on Monday the 18th to be back in the UK by 20:30 approx UK Time.
Train comes to about £110 for that. Further costs to be considered are hotel (approx 80 euros a night for a double room, so about £23 a night each) and then petrol (its 800 miles round trip from calais to nurburg and back again)
So you are looking at a TOTAL cost of below (adjust if sharing between peeps)
£110 train
£200 hotel costs
800 miles fuel costs + ring fuel
£12 a lap of the ring
£20 a day food costs
Obviously itd be good to all be on the same train on the way there and the way back. We had a NIGHTMARE with this last time with 3 cars, so i think the best thing will be for one person to co-ordinate it if possible. I do not mind doing this, but i will need at least everyones name, address and telephone number who is coming to do this. ( i will book on your behalf and then im sure you can probably pay them by calling in with a booking refernece i will get for you)
If you want me to help on this I can. I used to run days over to the ring...so I can get this sort of thing quite cheap.
The Ring is 299 miles from the Port of Calais to Nurburg.
I can get the ferry for about £80-100 depending on when we go over (peak/off peak)
I can also get accommodation for approx €30 per night.
Would need money up front and then I\'m happy to book...I do recommend everyone takes out RAC 5* recovery (not AA they will refuse to take you off the ring!)
The only reason I ask for money up front is having been let down from oh so keen people then never deliver the goods....I will always pay for a room Ive booked regardless of whether its slept in....and Ive been burnt before!
I also have a map on how to get there with all of the mile markers of where all of the roads turn etc
oooo meant to say I catch the ferry as although its cheaper....having just driven 150 miles its a nice break before going another 300...plus its a good place to meet everyone
I thought the RAC wernt allowed to remove anyone from the ring either?, i thought it was only their own recognised recovery people?
sod the ferry, train all the way, it only takes 30 minutes plus alot of people get sea sick!
howeever, regarding accomodation we may need help. Im sitting down with my friends this week one evening and sorting out EXACTLY who is coming; and we may then go ahead and book the train.
Atomic rex, i kno what your saying about the break - but if it means that much we can always sit down for an hour at the port calais side, we should be in france by 1pm with the current plan so that still leaves us plenty of time to drive to the ring and have breaks along the way...
I know for a FACT that we will NOT be getting the ferry (sorry atomic rex) as as i say, some of my friends get VERY sea sick.
Therefore, anybody who is going to be coming - are you happy getting the train? It will be between 100-120 quid. You can drive a rex on and off no problems at all, no worries with that. Ferries however can pose a bit of a problem due to the on ramp.
What do you think rex? And can you PM Me about this accomodation with info if you have it because we need to get it booked before everywhere is fully booked!
Cheers
Bob
I would prefer to catch the train if it only takes 30mins. I would like more info on the accommodation atomic rex. Any chance you could pm me and i would be happy to pay up front.
Bobfish i will pm you my details for the booking of the train. There will be me and a mates car.
Ive just Pm\'d Bobfish....If people want to PM or email me with what they want in terms of Accommodation I will organise it this week.
To be honest I am towing so catching the Ferry is a necessary thing!
I can provide
Single
Double
Twin
Triple
Rooms
Quote from: antnicukI thought the RAC wernt allowed to remove anyone from the ring either?, i thought it was only their own recognised recovery people?
You are right it is only 1 of 2 firms that can pull you off....but the AA wont take you back to the UK if the accident occured on the Ring...where as the RAC will :)
And what sort of cost will this rac cover cost? I presume if you break down you have to wait for a recovery truck from the uk to bring you back or is rac an international company?
oh, that makes more sense, i didnt know the aa wouldnt bring you home if you crashed on the ring. I will look into that.
I have just booked my ferry for that weekend (going with another group) and it was £40. I paid £123 for the tunnel same time last year.
A break will be nice as its a bit full on and although you know you can stop you dont!
Ok,
Me and my friends are getting together tonight for sure and sitting down and sorting out all of this. We may have up to 10 cars coming (10 CARS) so we need to get everyone in agreement over dates.
After that i will confirm with you guys. We are still deffo leaving on the thursday but may now be returning on the tuesday rather than the Monday. I will let you all know.
Atomicrex - how many places does this hotel have?! Its going to need a few :)
as i said, me trex antnicuk and a few others are already going on the 8am ferry. maybe we can meet a few people there to join our convoy. its going to be a mixed bag of motors and hopfully this year we can keep the pace down to save some fuel. (im skint)
as for recovery i am going to join the ADAC this year. its cheaper to join this for the year than get cover from the rac for 4 days :2eek
sorry posted wrong info.
Ok,
We think we are going on the 14th at around midday (on the train) and returning around 8pm on the tuesday evening (19th)

Ive enquired about train prices for a group of 10 cars as a baseline, awaiting response.
If im to book this ive a feeling that i will need to have you lot paypal me the train costs before i book it. I will enquire about separate bookings and payments, but last time they asked all the card holders to be there at the time. I will still take all of your numbers and addresses just so i can give them to the train people when i book it if they do allow me to book a space for you pending your payment.
IF YOU WANT TO GET THE TRAIN WITH THE ABOVE GROUP, I WILL NEED YOU TO CONTACT ME EITHER AT CARL.NEWTON@INTACT-IS.COM OR BY PM WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER, NAME AND ADDRESS.
I will let you know later on if i need you to paypal me, and if so how much. Just for your personal safety reasons i will pm you my full address and all contact details if i do ask you to paypal me the funds for the train.
Cheers guys, its getting close to booking time so just remember if i dont have your details pretty soon then you will have to book your own train separate from ours

Carl i sent you a pm about payment for the train. Do you get charged per car or per person? Im gonna try and get the payment sent to you tonight. Gotta pay my mates pug 309 too so that will be £250??
Ive tried calling my person at the Ring....and I dont think they are back yet. MOst of the places are actually shut as its probably under a couple of feet of snow!!!
Will keep trying as Im planning to take the Atom over in April :D
Quote from: t2rewas for recovery i am going to join the ADAC this year. its cheaper to join this for the year than get cover from the rac for 4 days :2eek
what is everyone doing for recovery and insurance?:3Confused
Judging by this thread, everyone has been before, so what did you all do last time you went?, would you change anything this time round regarding insurance/breakdown? I\'ve visited that ADAC page and there seems to be a lot of different options. Which option would be best?
more info on this would be good as last year i arranged with the AA for Euro cover but from the above it would be of no use if i crashed on the ring. I dont see what they could say if i broke down in the car park though!!
I also just arranged a \'green card\' with my car insurance.
the £125 is PER CAR - IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU HAVE.
So yes, £250 for you mate.
I will need your name, address, phone number, and car reg, make, model and colour.
Thanks
Carl
P.s, i used AA last year - not sure on recovery from the track though. You cant get the AA to just come over and recover you from the middle of the nurburgring im sure....
You dont get the AA to come from Dover all the way over to Germany either ;)
The problem is is that you get someone from ADAC that lifts you from the Ring.......they then speak to the AA to transport you back to the UK and the AA refuse to cover the costs.
Look at Nurburgring.org and I think you will find out a bit more there.
ADAC do offer a full service...and its cheaper than the RAC
is that a full european breakdown cover with ADAC as well in case i break down on the way there.
I think in practice if you breakdown or have an accident at the Ring the ring recovery track will at least get you off the track (for a fee) - they will want to get you off ASAP so not wait about till your recovery company turns up!
Also I think the guys in the recovery trip are fairly sound (I\'ve met some of them before  ) and will drop you off a bit away from the ring if you want
With insurance you want to read your policy pretty carefully and certainly don\'t ask them if you are covered. Plenty more info on Ben Lovejoy\'s site
http://www.nurburgring.org/
Forgot to add, I\'m hopefully gonna join you guys. I don\'t have the reg of my RX7 yet (as not bought one yet :( ) so can\'t really book with you.
Bobfish - can you let me know what train you\'re booking on and where you are staying. Hopefully I\'ll be able to tag along if I book at a later date. Cheers.
No worries tim, the train times are above. However, we are unsure of where we are staying yet.
I will let you know.
Thanks
Carl
i dont think its free to get taken off the track surely, i though it was about 400 e\'s or do you mean if you are a member with adac
No not for free, charge is about 175 Euros. Other alternative is to have policy with ADAC and they can come and get you instead - didn\'t realise this when I first posted. They are only company that Nurburgring let recover cars (according to Ben Lovejoys site).
Yep
Kewl heh....one incident will more than cover your costs for paying the ADAC.
Looks like we are all getting a policy from ADAC then!
P.s and last takers that want booking on the train are still welcome, but time is running out. I think i will book it today - i need to call a friend and get one more address and then we are ready to book.
Train now booked
Leaving the UK at 14:20 on the 14th
Returning from france at 20:20 LOCAL TIME on the 19th
£120.

Just bumping this thread up to the top so people can see and are reminded we are going just incase they want to come also.
hi all would like to come to this and was just wondering what do i need to do ie pay up front or not and do i need to send it to you bob?
Carl (bobfish) has already booked the tickets for the eurotunnel john, but you still have plenty of time to book some. Will cost £125 return
So whats a none official trip then! Auuuu! Does that mean we are breaking the law or something! Hoooooo!
??? im confused?!
Shoulda been there yesterday :D This was the state of the car park pretty much from 10am til 6pm :cool
bastid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Max took my mate round. he was impressed :3gears-rh
Seeing as this thread has gone a little quiet....thought I would get it back up and running.
How many people are confirmed to go?
Anyone struggling for accommodation?
Does anyone fancy either, and sorry for the madness of this, running or cycling round on the Saturday morning? There is a place to hire bikes close to the ring in Adeneau
running and cycling? no chance! Ill tow you though with the rex :)
So far i have 10 cars in my group alone confirmed coming, thats excluding the MRC members. There are also 5 other people who say they are definately coming and we have booked a hotel for but they havent booked their train yet.
Accomodation we have all sorted, as we have trains. We are all good to go mate, should be at least 12 cars turn out from our group, all of them except 1 over 300 bhp as well :)
its gonna be a beasty!
Yep, me and a mate are going with bobfish\'s group. It\'s a mad rush to get my engine back together, in the car and run in before it goes round the ring!
Carl, Shall we meet in south east london somewhere and convoy down to dover?
I have\'nt booked a hotel yet. I\'ve been meaning to contact you atomic but have been sidetracked with this engine lately. What were the prices again and where was the hotel situated?
You will need to give me an idea quick.....there are no hotels left!
Might be able to get you a room....but you will need to get the money to me prior to the day....sorry Ive been let down too many times, and I end up paying regardless!
Accommodation will be about €35 per night. Be in Nurburg :D
Good luck guys, let us know where you post your pics !
We\'re going first w/e in July for the third year running, I think the car will be fixed by then.....
Maybe four cameras on the car this year, concealed as ever after having to rip one off last year when spotted at the barrier... :2Confused
i think whoever organised this is very irrasponcable (sp) all the fuel these fd\'s will use on this trip could provide enough, food, housing, education, clothing, water, sky tv, pool table, swimming pool, stable+pony for all the starving familys in 3rd world countries, lmao
have a good time peeps
I\'m towing mine over...as my girlfriend says it would be very irresponsible of me to mortgage the house to pay for the fuel to drive to the Ring and back!
Yes rob sounds good. What route will you be taking down here? I am very near the M1/M25 junction.
To be honest it will probably be best if you come to us rather than us come to you as there will be about 12 of us!

Can\'t wait for this. The last 3 months have dragged along, but since my waterseals went and me being busy getting it all sorted out, the time has gone real quick.
I\'ll meet you in maidstone mate if that suits you?
yeah might be an idea mate. Bet your gonna love it when all the cars pull up, theres gonna be 10 of us coming to meet you!
so is your car all sorted and running now then?
Well only a week to go now lads.
Robbie ive got your train booked as discussed, as wel as your mates for the peugeout. I take it youve got your own accomodation sorted? Ive pmed u some additional info as well.
It would be a good idea to see who else is coming and at what times too so we can sort out meeting, we get on the train at 14:20 on the 14th - what time is everyone else travelling out?
Also, if you want to - pick up some walkie talkies. When we go over we all have a walkie talkie and use them to sort out the route we are taking, when we are going to stop for fuel etc. They are also good for just plain ****ing about :)
We\'ve got about 10 cars coming in our group, so should be a good convoy if anyone wants to meet up with us.
Im so excited :) haha.
If anyone wants any more info PM me...
