Not wanting to sound like a complete noob
I assume the T04 series get bigger alphabetically, smallest being T04e up to biggest being T04z. Am I right ?
Therefore that makes my T04s bigger than a T04r ?
No, not exactly! :Santa

The (Garrett) T04R has a higher cfm rating than the S. But swapping housing sizes could change that; if your S has the biggest available turbine housing and your mates R has the smallest for e.g. then its not a clear cut answer.
Question: why do you ask?
EDIT: for slightly less comedy value :)
lol, great reply - so what are the differences then? :)
Don\'t ask him, he is a joker !!

I ask because I want to know. Mine is 60-1 0.7 coldside if that means anything.
edit: obviously it means something, I just want to know what..
And thanks for all your informed wisdom Rich, you truly are a valued poster... :D
Correct me if i\'m wrong but the 60-1 bit is the Comp wheel size (in Turbo Slang :)) and the .70 is the size of the volume of the Compressor housing.
Its the other end you want to be looking at, thats the same as a mate of mines 60-1, he runs a .96 hot side which is Undivided and get low 400\'s (at the flywheel) at About 1 bar of boost (oviously has all the other stuff to go with it)
Mine is 1.0 hotside.
But surely that just means a larger exit so you can flow more. That would make sense as the smaller the aperture the quicker spool because less gases required, but then restrictive for high end power
Bigger hotside more has needed for spool so slower spool but then more top end availale as more gas can flow ???
help ?
Your in the right area for a Stock/Street ported motor.
If you forget about the Porting side of things you are correct in saying a small Hotside (.86 or some thing like that) on your turbo will make it spool quick and will be very responsive But!! the Down sides are it will restrict your Top end Power and will create more back pressure in turn more heat.
A Big Hot side (1.3 for example) will feel less responsive on the same set up but will run cooler and also flow better so give better high end (to a degree)
Ideally you want something in between .96 or 1 in your case, this will give you a balance of Response and Power.
If you want to get confusing alot of Turbo Builders give diffrent Hotside wheel options (with diffrent Blade Pitch) so you can also change the Carictristic of the Turbo with the wheels. Then you can also change the feel of a turbo by Porting your Engine, if its stock you would not want to go any bigger than .96 but if you have a Bridge its common to run some of the high end of the scale becouse simply the amount of Exhaust gasses will increase and this in turn will spool a Bigger Turbo.
