Hi all,
I am running in a new engine about 750 miles to go, the engine starts first time, runs as smooth as silk no smoke etc. The problem is that when I accelerate and the boost gauge goes from a minus figure to the zero but as soon as I try and push the car any further its as though there if a fuel cut defender cutting in she just wont run under any type of boost. If you drive the care very smoothly never going near boost (yes it can be done) the car drives fine. On a duel carriageway I was doing a steady 70 mph at 3k as smooth as silk, its just that you cannot put you foot down. I have looked under the bonnet for split or missing vac pipes etc. The car been fine for the first 750 miles, would boost gently to .8 bar no problem, and I was keeping the revs down to 3.5k .
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
I had an identical problem about a year ago, went to Rotechnics and it was the solenoid (is that how it is spelled?) (96 Bathurst).
Similar problem in my 1990 Turbo 2 some years back. It was the petrol filter blockage.
The car just would not go over certain boost / revs unless I did it really slowly.
It cost me around £700 to fit a second hand one.

Michaelb

£700 for a solonoid??? :o
Think my original post vanished due to the forum down issue.
Go back to whoever built the engine and get them to have a look.
