simple question - does anyone know the thread size of the unions on the steering rack which take the high pressure oil feed and return to the tank? Im replacing my power steering pump with an electric one and need to get some piped made up.
Keith
Could you post the details of the conversion?
could be useful,
Thanks
Why are you replacing the pump for an electric one?
It cant have that much of a horsepower lose can it?
I tried this and tbh i did\'nt like the feel, its light all the time it does go hevier at speed like the stocker.
I got rid of it all together in the end and after a week (getting used to how heavy it was at low speed) i kind of regreted it. at speed i don\'t think ther ps is on so loosing the pump just made it bad to manover.
I was advised on not removing it too. I have changed the cooler for it though...Ive bought a water to oil cooler that fits in line between the radiator and the return
I\'m only doing it because the intercooler pipe from the throttle body now routes exactly through the area that the pump was in. This didn\'t seem to be a problem, since many new cars have an electric pump, so it\'s time for some ebay searching. I just need to get the pipework made up.

I have converted mine using a pump from a Saxo. The fittings and hose came from Earls. You will only need high pressure hose on the feed side.
No speed sensing but it has weighted up at parking.

I really would advise against it.....Its gonna make the feel of the car very different and extremely difficult to use at slow speeds.
Why not buy the greddy Elbow, this will give you the angle you need to get past the pump.
BilletBitz - thats exactly what I need. Many thanks!
I have the Greddy elbow and measured up for making the intercooler pipe miss the PAS pump. It gets messy around the intercooler and radiator if I have it turn to far forward, so I made the decision to go with improved intercooler piping and the electric PAS pump.
