K started ma car today to move her, let her tick over a few mins when the exhaust started poping almost constant with the revs droping slightley and a bad shake from the engine started.. im sure just before i turned her off the heat warning lite cam on?
I was playing with the boost controller, i turned the nob to low( ithink) then unpluged it? plz dont tell me iv killed ma engine :(
Cars got a cat but a big exhaust, shes not had a run since japan 2 months ago.. added fresh fuel yesterday from bp.. i just dont wanna start it incase i break something..
cheers
How bad was it shaking? Do you have any other guages and if so what did they say? Any smoke from the back? And have you checked for anything loose under the bonet? All fluid levels ok? And did it start to go funny when you unplugged the boost controler?
Sorry for all the questions
just spoke to nick (very nice man lol) recons it may be the plugs so im changing these tomoz if i can find a shop that sells em..
Fluids are all fine, did a filter/oil change yesterday, only a few secs of smoke from the exhaust on cold startup, first turn she fires up.. no other gauges as the boost gauge was removed in japan... the signs of 1 rotor :P
yes we can to a quick listening test on the rotors whilst the plugs are out tomoz matey, that should let us know if we are dealing with something internal or external to the block

think i`ll buy a compression tester to whilst im at it..
don\'t get a standard one mate..... from my understanding they dont show a low pressure as you have basicaly 3 cylinders being read through one plug hole!!!
Might be wrong thou??
Jono
You can use a standard one provided it has a non-return valve that you can hold open to see the individual compression spikes.
They do if you take the Shnider (spelling) valve out :)
Its not the most Acurate way of comp testing an engine (and you need a third party to turn it over while you watch it) But it works to a degree.
Just Watch the End of the Comp tester is not longer than your Plug, it would be daft to Distroy your Apex\'s becouse the end of the Comp tester Pretruded into the Bore.
BTW that sounds Flooded, you want to check the plugs and leads. Proberly easyer to replace the Plugs tbh but check one rotor\'s plugs are not both wet, if so do a Comp test but its very Likly its just Old fuel, our loverly weather and the fact its Fresh of the Boat.
can you recomend spark plugs that i can buy in halfrauds as i want to do this today to ease my mind.. kinda scared and frightend lol..
i`ll check once its light, i degreased and jet washed my engine the day before, this be the first time shes been started since.. Oopes never again..
Ok few pics of me plugs, rather manky :P have a set coming today so will replace them tomoz, old ones have been cleaned for now,..
yup, they need cleaning.
at least they are black (indicating a rich mixture) rather than brown (indicating the dreaded Lean Mix).
clean them and get them back in for the mo matey.
good work

A Big Thanks to Nick (rmagictastic) talked me through a few things i.e the 1 rotor check, all in all turned out to be the plugs.. such an easy job to clean but what a worry it caused me lol..
any who cars running great again so Fankoo nick lol..
cool, its running fine then????
Rmaj
purring like a kitten :)
is running rich not a bad thing also though?
not bad for the engine as such-you just use a lot of fuel! my car was originally running very rich on an re-a ecu. changed toan apexi and had it mapped and now it\'s faster and i use less fuel! bonus. :bandit
kewl lol.. im going to have a look at the ecu, i dont think its standard..
Nice one! It\'s always a big big relief when its nothing serious :yes
