I was under the impression that the only accurate afr guages are the wideband ones, and they go for a considerable amount more.

$60 to ship to the UK - errr i think not

i have one in my car and i think its great

its not as accurate as a wide band - but if you want one - get one

you cant tune from it - or anything like that - but its just another warning facility in my eyes

just my £0.02p worth

any of the \'plug in\' air fuel ratio guages are crap. They work in narrow band, and will show green when your foot is down and red when its not. Inbetween is just a light party!

It will also show when the car is in closed loop - as the lights ping back and forward between lean/rich in a cyclic fashion when you have part throttle.

However, a wideband gauge requires an additional wideband 02 sensor and not only will this offer more meaninful readings, but it can also be used to check the state of tune of the car.  I am going to be using the Innovate LC-1 wideband kit with Bosch sensor, and will be modifying an existing 20 led gauge to read the wideband output (they are only voltmeters), which is also fed to the eManage for tuning / fuel mapping.  This should result in a steady display of realtime A/F ratio.

like i said , each to their own !!

on mine ( as jon said ) when you put your foot down it shows RICH ( which is good ) - i use mine for asdusting my foot slightly so that it runs open loop and not rich ( saves fuel i think )

best bet is wideband - but you are looking at around £200 ( ish ) for that set up

im not sure if you could run a wideband sensor ( £60 ) thru something else ( like prof says its just a voltage at the end of the day ) so save on costs ??

the thing with the a/f guage is that it only registers a few voltages ( ie under .4v , between .4 - .5 and .5v and above ) this gives you lean , stoich and rich

where as a wideband will read a lot more ( ie .01v increments )

dont take my word for this - but its my understanding of it all !!
